Vindekarr
And that's where I do agree with you. Single-hand crossbow do exist, and did exist during the mid-late medieval period, but I don't think they would have been a very practical weapon. Bows don't downscale well, and even a well-designed single-handed crossbow would have major ergonomic problems. It's not so now, but medieval crossbows were horrible weapons to use-I've suffered through firing one a few times and it's not much fun. They don't have any sort of cam or winch to help you draw them, and as you're wrenching the string back it feels like it's going to dislocate every joint in your arm and tear off your fingers. They're dangerous, too. Get you hand caught in any of the (exposed) workings and you'll lose it. When you downscale them, you simply magnify those issues. History states hand-crossbows did exist, but as a recreational archer I'd never want to touch one.
billyro
Aye. I'm just afraid that there will be little groups of players running around the place dual wielding these crossbows and going, "pew pew pew!" Well, there is little chance of that actually happening, but it still annoys me. Oh well, I'm not even sure if I'm going to get it yet, so I dunno. In other news, I am downloading the Don Bradman's Cricket Academy beta and it looks very nice. Surprisingly, the character creator looks better than most other games I've seen, and it's a cricket game. Perhaps if I can make a character that looks like me, I'll make it my avatar on these forums. And that seems likely. I am admiring Big Ant more and more with each thing they release. They're a company that seems to care about the players, not the profit. Also, I am quite pleased with Australia's performance in the Ashes so far. Two smashing wins, and even though I didn't get any good TV reception today, I am confident Australia is still going strong. Sorry English fans, but muahahahaha! Vindekarr
Looking back it's been a great year for sports games in general. A couple of the big console franchises made good evolutions, and within my interests there's certainly been a flood of great games. It's a good thing; not just because it means more people have games they like, but nothing draws more money into the industry. For my part, I've been spoiled for choice all year-I can't remember ever seeing a better year for racing games. Grid 2 and Need For Speed Rivals were fantastic arcade games, and then Assetto Corsa and Project CARS basically re-invented the sim market overnight. It's well timed, too. There's always a period between November and February during which there's no major Motorsport of any kind, so games are the main way fans keep in touch. Werne
Meh, crossbows still suck. In other news, I made a flashlight that has no batteries and recharges through cranking, cost me 0$ since I made it from trash (I ripped out some stuff out of things people threw away in the garbage). Now I have free light, as in literally. What can I say, I feel like inventing s**t right now. :D I have a few problems though, I need to find (or make) some kind of transmission for the generator so I can spin it at higher RPM, and hopefully add better electrical storage capacity. I only have 8800μF of capacitors at the moment which sucks, but at least the thing has stable voltage output. Too bad super-capacitors are impossible to find around here... Ah well, back to the workbench!
Iv000
http://jay-machalani.squarespace.com/blog/2013/12/12/fixing-windows-8 This holds all the sexies. I wish someone actually made this happen.
Werne
Win8 sucks, the only thing that can fix it is a factory HDD wipe, or you can run the HDD over with a car, either way works.
Thor.
Exactly :thumbsup:Hey Werne i might stick with the Corsiar h801, and replace the default fan with a Nantua. The fans can be replaced. http://img.canadacomputers.com/Products/450x450/055/055211/96716.jpg they use standard 120mm fans, i may need more then one though. It'll cost me but its so worth it. The fans that come with it are so freaking loud its not funny, they literally sound like a jet engine when they fire up the first time. The Nantua project I'll call it, i may need at least 6 to cover all bases.I did some research and they say the h80i can fit in a Fractal Design case because it mounts like a fan and the heatsink is the lowest profile heatsink you can get. Where is everybody???? Edited December 13, 2013 by Thor.
