Nvidia drivers have predetermined colour contrast for monitors, you can change it up on the fly. Images may look better than they appear.

In a sense it would look great for a Nvidia user versus Radeon witch have a fixed colour contrast ratio.

I can't do much to change it, Nvidia pretty much just does it, looks good though. Better than that dull washed out look.

Nope, AMD also has adustable color contrast in the driver since the 90s, though you need to fiddle with it manually (I hate automatic stuff, looks much better when you do it manually). The rest is monitor settings to which Nvidia may have access with compatible panels. Plus, your pics look pretty good to me until I turn all the monitor/driver settings to stock, then they look like crap.

I don't use the driver settings at all though, I only set the color to +8 warm there. Instead I bypassed damn near everything with my monitor's MagicColor setting, set it to "Intelligent" which adjusts color/contrast ratio dynamically every time scene color changes. That thing does a better job than me and makes adjustments in 1/60 of a second.

All that basically amounts to ENB-like color effects with no framerate drops what so ever. God bless Samsung SyncMaster 943! :D

I went off MMOs after the fiasco that was GW2. I was playing a lot of MMOs back then; most of the big ones including WoW. The problem was, they were all the same; the basic mechanics were identical from one game to another, the plots were roughly the same, the races were the same, it all got so monotone that I started having trouble remembering which particular generic well-endowed pointy-eared Asian woman was from what game.

FPS games are quite monotone, but there are distinct sub-genres; Call Of Duty and Insurgency could never be confused with eachother. Racing games all share the same set of cars and subject matter, but nobody could confuse Need For Speed: Rivals with Assetto Corsa. MMOs? the only thing separating two MMOs is gimmicks and the names of the massive-breasted mostly-naked women who tell you to kill 15 Boars. Because women obviously can't kill boars; they might chip a nail or something.

This isn't a joke: that's actually the OFFICIAL ADVERTISEMENT for ultra-generic Korean MMO Evony online. I'd burst out laughing if I wasn't too busy vomiting in my mouth at the shear de-volution of MMO culture.

Oh look, boobs! Let's click on that! Oh, hang on, that's a game? Well, it must be good then!

I haven't looked at that Evony game, but I'll estimate that it's a crappy rip-off of another game with half-naked anime girls plastered over everything (or maybe even real girls, since that's what their brilliant advertising campaign consists of).

Also, it has been raining almost non-stop for 3 days here. The creek near our house is flooding over, and if it continues to rain, it'll probably get into the house. We don't have sandbags (that I'm aware of) so that will be crap if that happens. But hey, floods are awesome aside from that!

Holy freaking crap. The water is up so high, it's almost scary! Some of the lower houses have already been flooded out, the streets are underwater, the toilet doesn't work any more... it's getting crazy around here.

It really snuck up, though. It's been drizzling for about a week, so I didn't really think much of it. The last few days have been pretty heavy, and today is when things have started flooding.

It's still raining heavy right now, so if it keeps going, I'm going to have to pick up all the electronics, roll up the rugs, pack up the books and save anything else.

EDIT: Rain has died down... for the moment. :ninja:

Also, post #51515. Just thought it was cool.

Evony and Civony are laughable Korean made knock-offs based on the Civilisation games from the md '90s. They're so outdated that it's almost unfair to laugh at them.

II can't help but feel a little sad when I look at the Korean games industry. Korea is an industrial juggernaut; it's a major player in almost every conceivable field of manufacture from cars, ship and aeroplanes down to toasters and kitchen knives. It's also got a massive gaming culture; and yet I've never seen a passable wholly Korean made game. You'd think of all the countries in the world, they'd possibly be the best suited to making games, but it just hasn't eventuated.

The various Korean made games I've played tend to fall into two categories. The first group are inferior copycat versions of successful Western and Japanese games such as Monster Hunter or God Of War; usually built on a shoestring budget and rushed out the door. The other are so over-sexualised that they're basically interactive porn, often built on formulaic and generic MMO structure.

There is hope though; it was a similar story when the Korean car industry started. For the most part, the first Korean cars were shameless knock-offs of various Japanese and European vehicles, usually built so badly that the doors fell off in a week or two. Nowadays the two main Korean brands are industry juggernauts; Kia and Hyundai are ironically, famous for their exceptional reliability and bulletproof construction. Following that logic, in another twenty years Korean games with be massively imaginative and stand out as champions of the Feminist cause. Until then, it's boobs and disjointed hipbones galore.

Huxley is a classic example of what's wrong with the Korean games industry at the moment. It's not so much a shameless Unreal Tournament knock-off, but a shameful one. Rips couldn't be more blatant; everything from the art, to the gameplay, and even the fonts and character designs were taken from Unreal Tournament 3. Unsurprisingly it was a complete failure in the West, and never even made it to sale in Australia.

And here's the original, Unreal Tournament 3. Most games of the PS3/Xbox 360 era have some amount of this game in their "DNA" as it's graphics engine was one of the most widely used of that generation. The games themselves look pretty similar on face value, but where Huxley gets bogged down with an aweful pay-2-win MMO sideshow, Unreal keeps things simple and bloody; UT3 was a throwback to older shooters, and is still quite popular seven years later, owing to a huge modding community, robust SDK and hugely adaptable and moddable engine.

(and one of the most OP satisfying vehicles ever to appear in a video game; the 2000 ton Leviathan uber-tank. Because firing off nukes on a battlefield is fun.)

What can I say, I get easily distracted. :D

EDIT: Ooh, UT3, that thing is freakin' awesome, the first UT to beat the good old UT 1999. I should really install it again one of these days.
