notmyhome
Did Bethesda ever give any official statement regarding Kirkbride's 5th Era stuff? Because that would pretty much settle a vast part of any future game's story.
Lachdonin
Did Bethesda ever give any official statement regarding Kirkbride's 5th Era stuff? Because that would pretty much settle a vast part of any future game's story.Yes and no... Loveletter is mentioned in The Infernal City, which gives it some credibility. Several pieces of MK's Obscure Texts are referenced in Skyrim, from Arniel's Endevour, to Hiemskier's rant in Whiterun, to Paarthunax's mention of the Kalpas. There is also the Whale-bone bridge in Sovengarde, a clear reference to the Sky Whales of Skyrim (which coincidently piss LSD). However, Bethesda has said that only Kurt can define what is Canon ans what is not, and he hasn't said squat. Their use and reference to his material is why most people take what Kirkbride says as truth, even though he no longer works for Bethesda ( he does do some contract work). He did mention though that Landfall is NOT certain, and it can be prevented.
harvengure
My short answer, yes. Given the sales of the last 2 games I imagine it makes more sense for them to put out another than to focus solely on ESO.Besides, we have all of Akivir and possibly beyond to explore yet. notmyhome
He did mention though that Landfall is NOT certain, and it can be prevented. Thank god for that. Would've made the game a little boring if the future events were already set in stone and known to vast parts of the community.
momuse88
Good grief, King of Worms, stop being a dumbass. Anyway, my guess for TESVI is that we will continue to see what happens between the Aldmeri Dominion and the Empire. Although the Empire is indeed in a weakened state, the conflict is far from over. They were forced to give up a lot to the Aldmeri Domion at the White-Gold Concordat: including regular payments, expelling Talos from its Pantheon, land in southern Hamerfell (the region remained independent, btw) there are books and dialogue in Skyrim that suggest that the Empire is gearing up to try and shake off the Aldmeri Domion. The Civil War in Skyrim was a major deterrent in this whole process, however, because the Empire needs to maintain its land holdings in order to have enough strength to fight off the Domion when war breaks out again. There are reports in Skyrim that show that the Domion is pleased by the Civil War as it weakens the already weakened Empire. For people who are arguing that the developers cannot build off of Skyrim's storyline because many of its major decisions are left in the hands of the player, I say "phooey." If you think that game developers simply won't choose an ending, or else write something that circumnavigates both endings then you probably haven't played too many video games. This a major story confilct and I doubt that Bethesda would pass a chance to resolve this confilct in a future game. On the other hand, I have sometimes been surprised at the major events that happen in between games without much attention (Ex: The Argonian invasion of Morrowind). But that's my best bet that TESVI will see a resoluiion of the conflict between the Empire and the Thalmor (cocky bastards).
Boombro
Skyrim is still so young, not even five years old. Fallout 4 and all dlcs all come out first before it. It still so freaking early for this.
normandy2
I really really hope they add co-op. I'd love to run around with my friend in game. Even if they simply made the second player a generic character no one could talk to. I'd be okay with that hahaThat's my ever wishful insight rather than a gigantic amount of players swarming around Tamriel shouting modern slang which I would declare burning hatred on (this is a fantasy, not real life)! But that day has not yet come. Edited December 14, 2014 by normandy2
JustATac0
yes an unofficial release has been estimated for about 4 to 5 years from the release of eso
dayglo98
I hope they make it (it would make no sense if they stopped now anyways) and I hope it integrates lots of ideas and ideas from the popular mods
Bloodinfested
No reason why they wouldn’t keep making them I would say probably a good 4 more not to mention you have also Akavir. Lot of stuff they seem to skip over just look at in between oblivion and skyrim the crisis described in the Infernal city novel so things doesn’t necessary have to go in direct order. Highly unlikely any type of continuation of Skyrim only time will tell every game has really its own story and was never based off another.
