species5478
Ok...K2 has been out for a while. (I was privy to it during my first semester of college last year) It's under the guise of incense, and sold at most tobacco shops. It's perfectly legal in all states except for Kansas. Some European countries have already banned it. Supposedly, K2 gives a similar high to marijuana. From what I've seen on campus, some people get really high, other see stuff, some aren't affected much. (like weed) Should it be illegal even though it's sold traditionally as an incense? What about other illegal drugs of a similar ilk? I could use the insight to take back to campus...8)
slygothmog
I've never heard of K2...I thought it was a mountain  As I dont know about this drug, I cannot say much, but anything that impairs a persons ability to function normally and causes ( or may cause ) hallucinations, should surely be placed within the same category as other drugs that do this as well. evilneko
For reference, K2 = fake weed. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_cannabis Given that I believe that marijuana should be legal, I see little reason for the synthetic to be illegal. I think both should be treated just the same as cigarettes under US law. Judging by the wikipedia page, it seems that K2--and its users--would benefit from the regulation that would be required. Balagor
With Extacy the producers can change the active contents, just by changing a single molecule. Then it is another drug, and does no longer appear on the list of forbidden drugs. The dealers and producers walks free, untill this particular constallation is added to police list of forbidden drugs. Some "smart" guys have figured out have to make artificial "weed" now, and will pull the same prank with police and lawyers. If/when and where it gets forbidden, they are now able to change molecules, and create a "new" drug.Personally I think it should be forbidden, not that I am against weed. Those who knows me, also know that I have smoked shiploads of weed, But the real thing.I am afraid that when experimenting with this designer "thing", some jerks might end up with some real brain removing sh::t one day.I will warn all you young people, if you realy HAVE to smoke weed, then choose the real thing. Best choice is not at all.
Aurielius
I'll put it this way, x amount of your neurons die off naturally and are replaced at a slowly decreasing rate the older you get, why do anything to accelerate the process? Addictive personalities will always latch onto a crutch... drugs, cults, alcohol etc, if you are not that way inclined why create a dependency? grannywils
I'm with Sly on the first half: "I've never heard of K2...I thought it was a mountain  "and then I read the wikipedia article provided by Evilneko. I agree pretty much with Aurielius with respect to the dependency issue and then I have to go with Balagor on the rest Basically, in my day I have known too many people who experimented with chemicals trying to come up with a new "high". I'm not going to start preaching here. We were all young once. But just be careful out there. . . .
Lisnpuppy
I am totally for K2. I mean its soooo pretty and all. With the snow and the sky...and people crawling all over it. And it goes so nicely with K1 and K3, don't you think? *cough* :whistling: Yeah I never heard of it either, but if it is more that kids THINKING they are high and thereby BECOMING high....it should be regulated. You would be surprised what the human mind can do. Maybe one of the Chemistry majors should test it or something for extra credit?

grannywils
Ok, I just watched your video, and now feel that I have to take more of a stand. I cannot and will not make judgements about how people live their lives. We all have to make our own choices. However, this K2 appeared to have an obvious effect on this young man, and probably on his mental and physical capacities as well. Therefore, in my opinion, yes it should at least be regulated. For one very small example, I do not believe that people should drive cars while under its influence (anymore than they should while drinking). It is not the same as smoking a cigarette. Cigarettes are extremely detrimental to your health in different physiological ways, and we could have all sorts of conversations on that subject. But let's not. Certainly college students would be impaired while studying under it's influence. Of course they were in the 60's as already pointed out by Balagor and me earlier. In any event, you asked if K2 should be illegal. I cannot really answer that in the affirmative; but i surely believe that it should be regulated. I had added some further opinions here but realized that they did not belong on this forum, so I have removed them.
Ghogiel
never heard of K2. Addictive personalities will always latch onto a crutch... drugs, cults, alcohol etc, 3d modelling, drawing, dancing. internet, sex... basically all the good poo. if you are not that way inclined why create a dependency?Because I like doing those things. It just happens I have had problems with the modelling, internet and dancing addictions overrunning my life at times. I don't always get the sex as much as I like. When it rains, it pours.
