cerebus23
well in mmo rpgs the line is well i play a female cause i do not like looking at the backside of a guy all day long while i play, most mmo rpgs being 3rd person affairs and games that take months or years out of your life i suppose that is a fair point, expcept when i play mmo rpgs i am rarely staring at my chracters rear, usually i am watching my health bar, cooldowns, mobs, arrgo range etc etc, and if i am not watching any of that i am probably watching tv. the vast majority of my characters are male, i had a few female characters one mesmer in gw, cause i felt it fit the character and the male mesmer armors were ugly as hell, and a female mage in ac that i barely played years ago. to each their own tho but whatever you like to play play for whatever reasons, but if you are rolling a female character in anticipation for the nude mods then you are a very sick person :P. Rabbit1251
To be quite frank I find your entire line of questioning insulting. The Rabbit
soot00
I try to play a male character but the models sucketh so bad. If the animation and models looked like actual males it would be different. Besides if I am gonna stare at a screen during my game sessions I prefer to look at a hot chicks butt then a males anyday.
JimboUK
Here's an idea, if you don't like what's there then create your own, it's really not that difficult. As for suggesting people who don't male characters are perverts, that idiocy isn't worth a response.
MrSomeguy
Although I'm using a female character, I don't make her all slutty like some people like to. My next character is going to be an a**hole mercenary who cares more about money than the life of others.
NuclearDestination
Yeah guys who exclusively play as females and download all sorts of mods to make them naked with huge breasts and weird anime/over the top hairstyles are just pathetic. If you want eye candy, alt tab out of fallout and go look up porn like normal people do.
Foeofthelance
i'm a guy, and a teenager if that's not enough, and my first char was a male called Frankie but my next one will be a female character (for the evil legion *censored* ) but in my opinion, playing a female doesn't make you a pervert at allif you sit and want in front of it, then that's a completely different thing (and quite a disturbing thing, if i may add...... )still, there is nothing wrong with playing a femaleand if you look at mods, especially for Oblivion, you will find some slutty stuff for male characters as well (if slutty is the right term, that is)and there is nothing wrong with that as well, just don't use it if you don't want to but really, don't go here throwing such terms like perverts, especially without any valid reason Answer me this... If you say there is no differance between playing a female character and a male character, then why decide to change genders at all? I'm not saying its weird for men to play a female character; if you're a homosexual and you believe that a female character better expresses your personality or even if you're just a really feminine heterosexual male and don't like how men in video games are ALWAYS portrayed as muscle-bound machoist, then by all means go for it... I just don't understand why a normal, straight man feels the need to create a female character. Well... Why not? Personally, I flip a coin unless I'm using a game as a story base and have a specific character in mind. But at the end of the day the game is imagination based escapism for the people who play it. If there really is no difference between male and female characters, than both are equally valid options for a player, no matter what their gender may be in real life. After all, this is a game where we decide who lives and who dies, the fate of entire nations, whether we are a petty thief, a strong armed thug, a noble paladin, a well-intentioned diplomat, or just a smarmy rogue who talks those other folk into doing his dirty work for him or her. Yeah, sure, there are a hound dogs who just play a female character for the tight clothes, but there are just as many who think, "Well, I want my next character to be a Janeway type, willing to fight when she has to, but more willing to talk.", or "Hey, I liked the Sam Carter character from Stargate, how would she deal with the wasteland?" We do it because that's what our imagination asks of us.
frank lee
Fallout is about the first game that got me into 3rd person, I almost exclusivity played FPS's before Fo3. Any character I ever made was male until I played Fallout, now I make fems, its just eye candy. Finally little anime girls kicking ass never gets old for me. gsmanners
I have two sets of saves I always alternate between when the mood hits me. One set is a male character and the other is a female character. Female characters do have different perks and dialogue choices, so it's a different experience. Of course, they're characters. They aren't me.
leeshaw85
haha I didn't think my first post would be in this topic, but check out my avatar :) I choose male av's and I am male :).I read an interesting blog on this very topic (Gender bending in videogames) at a website called thinkfeelplay . com (Not sure if I'm allowed to advertise? so you can search for it in google if you like)I find it a little strange that males play as females, I don't really care either way, but it's an interesting topic to look at.Apparently females found out that males have it tough in MMO's (i.e don't ask for help if you're male, it's not cool lol), and males have found that females get tonnes of help (at times, plus sexual advances and what-not which are not helpful) - if you like psychology stuff the blog is worth a read :)
