Day Dreams of a Spaced out Old Man

As the days, weeks, months slipped by the floating ship drifted on and on. Every dawn a white dove was released and flew out. When it returned with no sign of land everyone returned to their business.

After many days of being rocked to a fro the bird returned without a sign. With little hope the leader and his family could carry on for another day, nightfall came. The ship rocked and rolled everyone to sleep. Their stomachs barely appeased by their last meal joined in the evenings growls from all over the ship all night.

When morning came panic had begun. The people began to eye all aboard and ponder each other with a crazed look. The air aboard ship was thick with hunger.

From crib the voice of newest member cried out. The men and women turned in unison and stared at the crib. They all turned slowly and moved like one monstrous demon toward the crib hanging by ropes from the ships wooden rafters.

Their eyes shown red with the pain of hunger. Their minds fogged thick with thirst. The baby cried again.

The mother of the child was the first to come to her senses.

She shouted, "THEE CRADLE! TIS NOT MOVING."

Immediately the leading man of the group rushed to the doves roost. Careful not to drool on it as he removed it from the coup.

He climbed to the top of the ship. He opened the hatch. He let the bird fly.

Minutes ticked away. Their minds all drained of life's hope seemed to feel hours passing. Then in the beam of Sunlight baring down on

his head the little winged angel appeared. And it bore a twig.

His joy overcame his desire to eat the bird if it came back without good news.

The joyful voices fell down the ladder. Passing from one to another until the entire ships peoples were alert. The ship has landed on solid ground. Praised be the One!

Everyone hugged and gave thanks to each other and forgiveness was shared as they all knew how close they had come to entertaining their panicked thoughts.

The sun shone on the huge ships deck as each and everyone that could climb to the deck walked on the stable ship. They viewed over the sides and saw the mountain top the ship was setting on. Solid and safe.

The preparations for disembarking began.

The great hatch on the ships towering sides were lowered. The animals disembarked two by, well some of them had young in the short time they were afloat, and anyway no one cared because everyone was joyful.

For days and days they all worked to carve a path around the mountain until the end reached bottom.

After a few weeks the camp for the humans was established and the leader with his wife and children began the great task of taking the count. Each day they managed to gather enough to eat so their hope grew night after night until all thoughts of sacrifice had been removed from everyones thoughts.

After many days the animals had found places where they could spread out and feel comfortable space around them. The night came one more time without a tone of ill will. Eveyone slept.

The next morning the leader arose. Looking around the shelter at his family as they each slept sound and secure for a little longer. He stood and pulled his robe from the hook on a beam from the ship supporting the center of their abode. He slipped the robe on and put his feet into his shoes.

He walked to the door and opened the wooden flap. Turning to look back as he stepped out. He pulled the door gently, quietly, and turned about looked on as the first beams of light appeared.

He was pleased. He looked out over the land and could see the hue of blue beginning to make an appearance as the twinkling stars in the dark blue of night faded.

He looked up and gave thanks. As he was looking up a small bit of gray clouded his sight. He looked a little higher and could see it stretched on for a ways. He turned to look at how far it went behind him. His hut was in his sight so he walked around to the side to get a better looks. As he did he saw a large dark foreboding cloud.

Lightning shot from it's center.

He felt his loins tremble and his knees weaken. He turned to shout out the alarm to get everyones attention to prepare to board the ship.

When the lightning cleared his vision was gone. He waited for his temporary blindness to wane.

Another bolt shot out far behind the mountain. His eyes were able to see the top of the mountain. The first words out of his mouth were, "The Ship!"

He stared in disbelief. He rubbed his fists into his eyes and looked again. "It's gone!"

The giraffes saw, the elephants saw, the rok flapping it wings saw, and as the sun rose the clouds went away to the east and everyone could see that the Ark was gone.

The minds of all were tormented by the new revelation and looked on; dumb struck.

Noah's wife bent her knees to the ground and Noah said, "God!"

HIs wife looked at him and said, "Yes dear?!" She remembered how he had given her that pet name one night when they were having sex. Her face filled with hope faded when she saw the look his face held was for the sight up on the mountain top.

Still in disbelief several of the animal leaders, and Noah, all seemed to think as one and began climbing to the top of the mountain to search for the ship from the top.

The sun rose red as they all walk up the mountain until the sun bore all to their sight.

The ground was covered in dust like Noah had not seen in ages. Not since the Ark was built.

Noah saw a strange bulging blob on the ground. Then another, and another. After several moments the rest of the group saw them too.

Noah searched the other side of mountain for the great ship. He hoped it had just slid down the other side. He could no longer ignore what all of the members were thinking.

He turned to the others threw his arms up in disgust. "It's gone!"

The mound where the ship had settled was covered in saw dust.

He looked at all the little fat blobs whose legs wiggled in delight. Noah kIcked some dirt up with his toe. As they all walked down the path back to his house. He mumbled, "I'm glad we managed to build the house before it happened".

As everyone made their way back down the mountain one of the bloated little creatures looked at all it's brethren and said, "I can't believe we ate the whole thing."

Down at the bottom of the mountain Noah's voice broke the silence. "Damn Termites."

Las Vegas used to be a nice place to visit until someone refused to support global climate rules.

Now you can go there to gamble with bottle caps as your money, because no one who has old money, credit cards, or the like can afford to fly or drive there through all the sand storms.

ED-E would you make a bee-hive hat for me for the walk back to Good Springs from New Vegas?

There is a Ghost Town near Corvallis, Kentucky. I found it while trying to find a place to see the eclipse where it would be far more accurately a total one. It's a Ghost Town. It may only be that, that it is the most prominent central view, i.e., if the path shown, on most maps, are accurate. Otherwise; it's a ghost town and it's going to be dark as night there for a couple minutes. I thought it was kind of neat, because the name of the place is, "Golden Pond".

If you live near Nashville, Tenn it might be getting a bit more crowded with Eclipse Chasers there as the Weekend nears.

Those Ghost Hunters might be crawling around places, like that ghost town, to see if Ghosts get confused and come out during the day. :- )
