Another Fallout game by Obsidian...

Isn't the only reason they made one the last time is because they had the rights before Bethesda bought all the other Fallout franchise stuff?

Regardless, as much money as this little wagon train seems to be making...I kinda doubt it will happen. I'll keep rubbing my lucky rabbit's foot and all that though. I like FNV.

its a hashtag on twitter designed to get a trend/presence going so that Obsidian [the guys who made Fallout: New Vegas] know that there is a massive swell of support for them to make the next Fallout game which will be way better than FO4 as was FO:NV when compared to FO3.

honestly i think Obsidian should be brought on board alongside Bethesda in the Fallout franchise, they both did great work in FONV. Beth is great at it's world spaces and obsidian at it's gameplay and writing, though primarily their gameplay... honestly i have no idea why neither can make realistic characters. probably just time limitations honestly.

though i do like the world space for FO 4 the gameplay is okay and the plot, eh havent gotten all that far into it (as in i got to and helped Preston then stopped doing any of the quests.) the dialog... better then both previous titles the only real issue is that the interaction tends to be off still and the limited speech is problematic. at least the voice acting is generally decent.

i can honestly say that FO4 is a good game, not great but also not bad. it just has a lot of noticeable flaws that are caused by obviously intended choices (4 speech options anyone? how about the in-ability to repeat conversations?)

I wouldn't hold your breath on Obsidian making another Fallout game.

Yeah. I mean, they sold it to Beth, and it been 7 years and didn't show any want of buying it back or anything. They have the choice to not make any fallout games whatsoever. If you want their work, play their games. Accept the reality that fallout is a beth game for almost a decade now and they have the right to do what whatever they want to it, even make it a steampunk title in 18th of mexico.

Why did they sell fallout in the first place? Were they broke or something?

Well, Black Isle didn't sell anything. It was the parent company, Interplay, that sold Fallout precisely because they were on a choo-choo train to bankruptcy and fast. Part of the reason being that they were pouring more money than they had into making a Fallout MMO. And they were so broke that they basically mortgaged even that to Bethesda, as in, if they're not done in IIRC two years (but I could be wrong about the exact time), Beth gets even the rights to that.

Which, in the meantime, yeah, Beth has those rights too.

Yup, called it.

Then the best you can hope is that they will buy fallout rights back from Beth. But I really don't see that anytime soon.

Will never happen if BGS (Bethesda Game Studios) have any say in the decision. I can't see anything from New Vegas as canon lore in Fallout 4. I could be wrong, but have seen nothing to show that New Vegas even happened, in the BGS Fallout universe.

Honestly I doubt Obsidian would even want to make a New Vegas sequel. Better to make their own world, under their control.

As for the idea Obsidian is somehow Black Isle, that's no more true than it is to say inXile is Black Isle. Neither of them are and I think most would call inXile's Wasteland 2 the spiritual successor to Fallout 2, rather than New Vegas.

I disagree completely, that another Obsidian Fallout is a good idea for Obsidian or Gamers.

I'd be much more interested in a new post apocalyptic world, where Obsidian are in full creative control, not subject to any publishers control.

Indeed the only reason I would crowdfund a project is to give the devs full control of the development. They must be fully crowdfunded for that to happen. I don't want to make money from backing a game, I want the game. A fully crowdfunded game isn't required to sell a single copy, to satisfy investors.

Good games will sell millions of copies, of course, but I don't care if it sells or not, I already have the good game anyway.

My usual caveat applies, Crowdfunding is very risky, game development is very risky. Your money is gone with no guarantee of getting a good game.

The devs are not legally forced to make a game, good or bad.

They can only be expected to try their best.

So only back with money you can lose, all investment is gambling.

A fully crowdfunded Obsidian new post apocalyptic world, made without the interference of any publisher, is what I would support.

A BS (Bethesda Softworks) controlled, rushed Fallout, holds little interest for me, other than a new modding sandbox.

Frankly, New Vegas came out way too soon, for a new modding platform. The 4 years of exclusive Skyrim modding produced much better mods than Fallout 3 managed.

Nothing about this idea appeals to me, mods are my focus and take time to evolve, into the golden era of the 3rd year onwards.

Of course a few soldier on with the old platform, especially the full conversions, which take many years, but the vast majority move to the new platform, immediately.
