Hexxagone
Imagine you took Skyrim, cut the map in half, only having the left side. The only cities were Whiterun and Falkreath. Solitude, Morthal and Markarth dont exist, instead you have to "create" them yourself with the same toolset so they all look the same, then fill them with the same generic lifeless npcs. The unique people and quests in those cities? Gone. Instead you go there to pick up a set of generic grind quests and micromanage the place instead of playing the game. Oh and most of the side quests are gone too, mostly you just wander around killing things with no quest or purpose. But you wont be able to go into every place becuase some buildings are boarded up, so you just go assualt the 54th bandit camp that is right next to a farm for some reason, until you level up and do it all over again. Athanasa
I think the reason Fallout's map feels so small is that your default move/run speed is all-out sprint speed. Seriously, it's ridiculously fast. Up your FOV to 95 or something and move around normally. It feels like sprinting in any other game. Hell, it feels like Skyrim's sprint speed. Also, it was rare to be able to get from Point A to Point B in Skyrim in a straight line, due to mountains, canyons and cliffs. Fallout lacks these geographical boundaries, making the world feel smaller as you no longer have to walk twice the distance to not fall off a cliff and die, or avoid massive rivers that kill you with hypothermia (Frostfall). Unfortunately, this probably can't be rebalanced until GECK comes out - it would require the move speeds of EVERYTHING to be changed, as I suspect the move speeds of wildlife etc are tuned to work with the PC's run speed. Reducing your move speed could result in you getting run down by Radroaches and molerats.
Boombro
@ Hexxagone It very clear that you are not quite pleased with fo4 for a while from your posts. Why are still playing until now? It winter sales on steam, why don't you buy something nice for yourself and try to have fun instead until there is mods and DLC that will hopefully enrich your experience? You remind of myself while playing DA:I, and I don't want anyone to feel the same. If you still want Beth, try oblivion, It has great quests. Or the great RPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. It only fault is lack of PC appearance customization, and bugs. Get the community patch.
TeamBacon
I would summarize your attitude in a nutshell, but it would get me banned from this website.
Aintiarna
I agree with Boombro. Best to take a break and play something else. FO4 will be a much better game a year from now when there are lots of mods that add new content, quests and fixes.
BadReplicant
I agree with OP and I know I shouldn't force myself to play it but damn, I really wanted a new Fallout :( I put it down for a couple days at a time and pick it up again as if it'll be something different. This was the only game I could afford without cutting into my Christmas budget. I never thought I'd be so disappointed. It'll be terrible to shelf this for a year. Though, I know modders are going to bring a lot to FO4, it really does need a tremendous amount of work to feel anything like an RPG to me. One thing that does bother me though, is this is a huge disappointment after a long string of disappointments. I think the gaming industry is bonkers right now and I feel like a sucker. charwo
Yup im giving up entirely on F4, probably wont even come back to it after the GECK is released. I wouldn't do that, especially if the quest mods for Fallout 4 are anywhere near as good as Fallout New Vegas. Look I get your pain: the Commonwealth, like Fallout 3 is an asinine world thast makes no sense, was made with lazy use of post-apocalyptic tropes, and that's especially insulting how good Skyrim was, how well built and believable it's world building was. But since you paid full price, mods will eventually fix everything you hate about this game. This is a much better platform for building mods on than Fallout 3. That said if you never want to buy another Bethesda game again, I'm with you on that. But unless you can get a full refund, something can be salvaged.
