What's with the 12-y.o. female textures?

While I agree with you on society and body.image problems in general, I disagree with your stand on how people market their mods. I appreciate if mod authors use clear marketing (naming and screenshots in this case) cause it makes it a whole lot easier for me to find what i want and avoid what I don't want. If a mod author makes a mod that's all about cartoon'ish boobs and high definition vagina then by all means put that in the name and banner. You can take all the tasteful, classy screenshots you want and put a fancy name on it but it won't change the content of the mod. The only thing it will do is make it easier to confuse it for something it's not.

So yhea, if someone's made a mod that basically turns the game in to a playable porno, then why not market it as such? It may not be your cup of tea, and it's certainly not my cup of tea, but it's someone's cup of tea.

And while I understand and agree with your argument that objectifying anyone (not just females, really it goes both ways) that's a problem. But we also have to realize that objectification and discrimination is at it's core a political discussion, and do we really want or need the nexus taking a stand on these type of things? Especially when they've already provided us with the tools to avoid seeing things we don't want to see (personally I always keep the "nude" and "anime" tags filtered out of my search's cause I'm not inclined to use the content in either or those tags), and they work very well.

That is just letting them come on here and destroy our image as a community.

Do I really want to have my mod associated with a website that peddles soft core porn on the front page? The filters don't mean anything when it comes to people destroying the reputation that comes with being a modder.

I'd rather have my mod associated with a website that assumes it's users are mature enough to decide what they want and don't want to use themselves, than a pretentious one that tries to police everyone's morals. Besides it's not like gamers, especially gamers who mod their games (and consequently mod authors) have a shining reputation anyway, so why worry about it?

It isn't the nudity or the type of body that is being shown. It is the way that certain mods are being marketed that bothers me.

Many, many, many great artists in the past have made paintings and sculptures or the human form both male and female. It was commonplace in the art of Ancient Greece and those that followed all the way up to the Dark Ages... which are so called 'Dark' partially because of the self imposed censorship and ignorance that kept the people in that age from being intellectually progressive.

There is nothing wrong with the human body, *gets on soapbox* and for the most part modern culture needs to learn to stop shaming people for having curves or not having curves or not doing well enough to hide the fact the you do/don't have curves. There is no reason people should feel shame for having a body, we all have them. I think a culture that puts shame on nudity promotes an unhealthy body image in people and as a result turns people to an extreme to fill the insecurity that it builds.

Much in the same way that our culture shames healthy touch out of fear. When children grow up thinking touch is bad, they end up filling that deep rooted human need with unhealthy touch like unhealthy co-dependent relationships, abusive relationships, and 15 year old girls being knocked up by guys in their 20s.

I think creating shame about being human is what really leads to the extreme problems we see, and it can't be answered with more shame of the original subject. *gets off soapbox*

But the point is, the human form can be beautiful art celebrated by all, but not all modders package it in such a way. What I am against is the modders that package and promote their work as if it were the cover of a porno video, like they are just trying to appeal to the sleazy aspect by having the tits be front and center across the banner or the centerpiece being a large HD picture of a vagina.

There is nothing wrong with vaginas, half the people in the world have them. But it is when you start objectifying females because of this that it becomes wrong and distasteful to me.

So in my opinion I don't think the Nexus should censor mods or anything, but they should make those particular mod authors put up a different less tacky screenshot if they want it shown on the front page of the website. Blatant censorship is rarely the answer in my opinion.

As mod users, I think it is our job not to support or encourage in any way people who promote women as objects as opposed to people or glorify rape in any shape or form.

That is not why the Middle Ages are called the Dark Ages.

Feel free to head over to Lovers Lab for your slutty/porn/objectification mods. That's where they should be, not in a site that can be seen by anyone of any age like the Nexus.

All those funky mods should be deleted from the Nexus and the authors pointed to the Lover's Lab site to post that crap.

Someone might want to make a mod exploring the world of prostitution (there were several in past games, and I don't mean animated prostitution). Hence, proper bodies would be required, and proper mods should be established for that.

And all this is pointless in the end, and kinda not on the topic of discussion; there are some rules, most of the mods anyone complains about are allowed according to those rules, those that don't are banned. There are filters specifically for anyone who dislikes those.

One day, I found Lovers Lab and gave it a look... and felt tempted to report the site to authorities. Main theme of their "mods": 1000 ways to rape. Plus all kinds of other sick crap...

I hope Nexus won't slowly turn into something like that for the sake of profit. I find the mods objectifying women that are being allowed here pretty bad already. Women are NOT objects.

Nexus won't become anything like that. And I certainly cant see how they would profit from doing so anyways... There are rules on this site.

I have never been to loverslab, I knew it had a lot of content that I would find pointless, but it sounds like a lot of the content I would find just sick / distasteful all together...

I hope that was a generic you, and not aimed at me specifically (although pointing someone at another site more suited to their tastes isn't a bad thing). All I'm saying is that the nexus has rules in place for what is allowed on the site and provides tools for content filtering for those that don't want to see certain things.

And no, women aren't objects (no one regardless of gender is), but a modding site for games seems like possibly the most pointless place to take a stand against sexual discrimination and objectification.

Also where do you draw the line on what is "slutty" and objectifying and what isn't? Is unrealistic body proportions (tiny waist and huge boobs) objectifying? What if it was made by a woman? What if women enjoy using it? Are mods that adds a big bulge to the male characters objectifying? What if guys like using it? Are naked body mods slutty and objectifying? What if it's being used cause you find the bra straps ugly? Where are you going to draw the line on something that fuzzy?

Really? report it, where are you from?? And how did you find LL if you were not specifically looking for nude/sex mods in the first place, because it does'nt show in a regular "fallout/skyrim/oblivion mod search? Yes, i agree there is some very, very questionable stuff on LL which i do not like at all, but it's a free world. And it's not just extreme stuff on LL, there are some very good mods on LL that have nothing to do with extremes and the authors of those mods do not have to agree with the other stuff but it's a solid site to be able to share their work. Just like on Nexus ignore the stuff you do not like and do not download, it's that simple.

And yes some do it out of objectification which is wrong, but the majority does not, they want to see something better then what Beth gave us. Roberts male body was one of the top mods for Skyrim and go take a look at some of Aliensloffs work.

First thing my girlfriend said, who does not play games at all, was how ugly the body was and that i should make it look like that other game i play, Skyrim, because that looked good according to her for a game. (I use unpbbp) i guess i'm just lucky not going against her judgement lol.

Nexus takes a good stance on what is allowed, acceptable and what is not and takes solid action with policy breaches, you do not have to like it though thats's freedom and you can report a mod if you think the content is not ok for whatever reason.

It was indeed, generic.

Game mods or not, it doesn't make it any better. Made by a woman? Doesn't make it any better. Objectifying guys? No better than objectifying women.

The topic of women abuse is super hot here in Europe for reasons I'm sure the vast majority knows about. I never found objectifying and mistreating women nice, I find it even more infuriating now with all that is going on here.

Really? report it, where are you from?? + some bla bla bla about "free world".

Somewhere in Europe, do you have a problem?

And by the way, where I live (and most of the civlized world) rape and pedophilia are CRIMES. I could report that site on the pedo s*** alone... deal with it.

Free world... get real, we're not living in Fallout yet.

Oh really? Wherever you live must censor the internet like hell.

Would someone please call the waaambulance. Sheesh! Just use the filters provided or go to a different site to download your mods. I suggest Bethesda's site or Steam, I think you'll find their level of censorship more in line with your wishes.
