ddavies10693
It isn't meaningless, that's a pretty big stretch, but I do agree it is overused. There's a reason mods like Frostfall for skyrim have such a huge following, because they make the game more life-like. Is that SO wrong to want? Geez Frostfall is pretty much a perfect example of an immersion mod and it has about 2 MILLION downloads, so to say mods like that are meaningless is pretty ignorant honestly. I don't mind discussing and debating on topics we're all passionate about, but once people just start getting butthurt, that's the point where it gets ridiculous. It was nice talking to those of you who chose to discuss things like adults. Edited February 19, 2016 by ddavies10693
Boombro
It not wrong, but hard is hard.
TeamBacon
"Immersion" is the most meaningless word in the modding community. Most mods misuse it horribly, and people who complain about it are the same people who complain about "casuals" ruining everything for them (see above). Immersion is one of those words people use to describe anything that makes the game more like what they personally want. Immersion could mean more menu crawling, or less menu crawling. It could mean more combat or less combat. It could mean streamlined mechanics or cumbersome mechanics that make you micro manage every little detail. It could mean anything or everything that particular person wants the word to mean. The word is too broad to be useful in most conversations. Any anytime someone refers to 'it is all the casuals fault' or 'it's because the casuals are ruining gaming' it is just a classic case of scapegoating. Make up the idea that there is some group out there who hate everything you stand for and then blame everything on them. It is much easier than looking at the logical reasons why Bethesda would make the choices they make. If your opinion on what makes an RPG game good differs from theirs, then you are just a 'filthy casual' who only plays first person shooters and hates any RPGs or having to think... Even if in reality you happen to work part time as an indie game developer attempting to make isometric RPG games...
JimboUK
I'm not suggesting that weapon holsters are exciting or fun. But I for one find it annoying that all guns just appear of nowhere, all the time. It's understandable for huge guns like a minigun for example because you don't have another choice. But for the large number of people who primarily play in third person, it's just annoying that you can't just holster your weapon on your hip, the same way you could in Skyrim, Oblivion, F03, and FNV. So it's like they intentionally removed it. If you look at the pre-release footage of the game, they never showed a character spawning their gun out of nowhere, but in the TV advertising, they always had holstered guns on their backs, or their hips (sometimes both at the same time!). They probably knew it was ridiculous, and people expect a little more from next gen games. I couldn't agree more, having weapons appear out of nowhere looks ridiculous and only adds to the impression that this game was rushed and half arsed, we're back to 2002 and Morrowind. Well I'm glad I'm not alone in having high standards for a game that took 4-5 years to make, millions of dollars to produce, and subsequently made even more millions in profits worldwide ($750 million according to Wikipedia). chucksteel
I never said I disagreed with you but I was trying to explain why they likely didn't do it. I even said "I miss seeing my cool Guns!" It's just not a simple thing like many many people think.
Boombro
How is weapons on back high standards? And no, it not expect if you aimed for realism. And it not it an RPG. Play other games.
ddavies10693
Every response prior to that was saying they couldn't have included things like guns on back because it would've been hard and taken too long too develop. My response is that they necessarily didn't need to spare that much expense on a game with a production value this high. Sorry if that wasn't clear. @chucksteel I'm not sure if you were responding to me, but you weren't the guy being butthurt. I like civilized debate where people act like adults. Yourself, Boombro, and TeamBacon may not agree with me, but I can still respect that you have a different opinion because you're being adults about it. I didn't appreciate the earlier comment about immersion in games being pointless, as a I mentioned at the top of this page ^ Edited February 19, 2016 by ddavies10693
chucksteel
I was responding to you and I also was not in any way trying to attack you personally. People do seem to think it's a really simple thing to do and why was it left out. I was trying to explain why I think it wasn't included and is probably the biggest reason. All the combinations of weapons and armor would have cause some major issues and created a need for a lot more animations.

Speaking of other DLC they should make, I wish they would take a page from you and add unique interiors to more buildings lol. Looking forward to your mod(s) once the CK comes out.
