Edit: messed up my quote some how that was not a Jokerine quote. :wallbash: Edited February 24, 2016 by chucksteel
Lisnpuppy
Is cookie the safety word now? Just let me know as I don't wish to yell COOKIE at an inappropriate time. The mentioning of some things being illegal in some countries and not in others brings to mind something. Not only does some legalities differ (though I don't think that applies necessarily since I believe the location of the site takes precedence and the home country may filter out some site stuff, I don't know) but what is considered "Acceptable" differs greatly from place to place. For example (and this won't apply to everyone it is a "general rule" so don't go getting your undies in a bunch here) in the U.S. uncovered..erm..cookies and the eating and enjoying cookies (ok yes sex I am talking about boobies and sex here lol) is generally frowned upon. You can however blow off as many body parts as you would like and kill in as graphic of detail as possible and this is like PG-13. Stick in one cookie and BLAM Rated R for you. Other countries look at our rating system for movies in wonderment. You know..there are nude beaches in the U.S. but you have to really go looking for them. And I mean like Google Earth them. Even then they are hard to find. See where I am going with this. Peoples perception of what is acceptable and not varies widely around here. I learned that as lesson numero uno when I was a moderator. Trying to explain this to two people was like trying to keep your chocolate out of my peanut butter except the end result wasn't a tasty reese cup. So while we think of possible improvements one thing we must keep in site along with the existing rules is that people will think different things. When you write rules you do not want to be too specific or too vague. Why? Too specific and something comes along that maybe you didn't foresee and all of a sudden a can of worms opens (like that doesn't happen anyway) and too vague, no one gets the rule and everyone is feeling a bit salty because it feels inconsistent. How can we get people to understand the tagging, filter system better to DO it when they upload files? How can we get the mod users to use it better when searching mods or when filtering out content they do not wish to see? Is there a way to make the rules more clear? Are they clear enough now and need to be reminders? Should there be more buttons/pop ups when mods/images are uploaded on the adult subjects to further clarify? I realize Chuck that you have said you were attacked for your paintings which had nudity-I don't know what you mean by that. Did you report it? I realize that you didn't see it as a "adult" thing as they were classical art paintings (?) and would not normally be considered adult. IDK if you marked them that way or ended up having to do so. If you did I would see why as the line has to be somewhere. I would have found it much too difficult as a moderator to try to explain why one boob was "art" and therefore ok and the other is not. (I remember a certain thread about what was art and what was not...*cough*) So I am sure someone would make an argument that this or that was art...easier just to say all nudity is marked adult if I was doing it. If someone made a diff decision then I admire that persons cookies. edit: And Chuck--tag filters are only as good as the taggings. If someone doesn't tag it skimpy it won't get filtered. Thus the breakdown in the otherwise good system
chucksteel
the images were (in my opinion) the Art Deco equivalent to the Venus Da Milo or just some chubby Cherubs in a Renaissance painting. (Not as good by any means but I think you get where I'm coming from.) I got called out as distributing porn for it and told the mod should be marked as ADULT! It would have been another thing if I were showing COOKIES on every billboard in the game. (Yes that is a safe word I've been using it for a long time as to not drop the C-bomb.) Edit: Sorry forgot to say No! I didn't report it. I just sucked it up and let the person go on for a bit until they drifted off and moved on to the next mod to complain about. At that time I didn't really get that the nexus Moderators really did give a rats A** about this stuff and thought I was on my own. Lisnpuppy
Well I think you got a dose of exactly what I am talking about here. Some people maybe have too much time on their hands. Or need to go bake some cookies? Anyway...thanks for clarifying. I do hope that we can perhaps make some good ideas here. I have felt that the filters needed some love for a long time, in many regards. However if we can get something a bit better for those who are having some issues with adult stuff currently and can still allow those that wish to have access to do so, then that would be swell. Unfortunately I don't think Darren's wish is gonna happen but I don't see why we can't come up with other workable ideas to discuss with the powers that be. DDProductions83
A forced option for adult/nudity adult/content matter, and non-adult when uploading a file wouldn't work why? Then it just auto tags it, GG, fix at least the annoyance I mainly have. As long as all new accounts have the two adult options filtered by default I can't see where I could reasonably complain afterwords.
Lisnpuppy
I'm talking about the section for just adult content by itself. And of course I cant speak to what Robin would or wouldn't do I am just going on that no major huge thing would happen. Or anything that would cause going through a bunch of old mods to get them over by hand, which some may have to be done.
RoyBatterian
Are adult mods and images opt-in by default? I can't recall anymore. If not... maybe that would be the easy solution for most?
chucksteel
On a side note, This issue is also part of why modders are not taken seriously! We are all seen as providers of Porn! It's really funny to me that everyone and there brothers can make money off of mods accept for the modders themselves! (I haven't chosen a side on the payed modding debate yet but I will always side with the modder!) And when I say everyone I do mean everyone! Beth makes money (as they should it's there game) The Nexus makes money (as they should they provide a service that and a mod manager which is needed) YouTubers make money, (Now this one eats me up!) ((They do nothing but make videos of mods, just talk to hear themselves talk and have a chance to get payed)) All the while modders dig through assets, reverse engineer games and what do they get? I get a few endorsements, some praise and a lot of abuse! More abuse then I really want to get into but I am able to take it!

If not... maybe that would be the easy solution for most? Yes - adult mods and images are disabled from view until you switch off the filter using the option on your site side profile "preferences" page listed here: http://www.nexusmods.com/games/users/preferences/? - it's the first item under "global preferences".Any adult content observable by someone that has not turned off the profile filter should be reported to staff so that we can review the page and correct any issues, whether it's tags, images/content present or something else. As was mentioned earlier, any adult/nude images uploaded to non-adult mod pages need to be addressed, either by the author changing their file to adult content status or removing the images. If they do not do either - then it should be reported. It doesn't take long to deal with something like this.
