I'm also at a loss to understand what the problem with skimpy stuff and even nudity is, no one complains about deceptions, limbs being blown off and blood everywhere in games, yet the sight of half a nipple has people running around like the world is about to end, Anglo-Saxon morality beggars belief.

In my experience, there just aren't nearly as many mods for violence as there are for sex/nudity. Most people don't make mods that make death scenes more traumatic, and most quest mods have the same amount of violence as the base game allows [or it's all text]. I know for Skyrim there was that one 'deadly mutilation' [?] mod that let you rip/slice people in half... I thought that was gross and I didn't download it. Same reason I don't play games with ultra crazy violence, like Mortal Combat. Hatred or the Witcher games. I think people are just more outspoken against nudity because we're more exposed to it in the mod section [and of course U.S does have a pretty janky view of sex vs. violence in movies/games].

 

 

I'm talking about a messed up morality in general, take the imageshare for example, with an adult tag this is acceptable (Gore warning), no one will complain, yet we get complaint after complaint about skimpy stuff, in that image I linked you're more likely to get complaints about the length of skirt than you are about her chopping someone up with a chainsaw.

Here in Canada and the U.S., people will get upset about that, but not as much as bare breasts on a woman, bare backsides, or full frontal nudity. Especially the latter. You know what Farvat, I am just at a loss at what to think of your post. I am the one that really pushed this conversation into the tag/filter thing more than anyone. Sure, myself and others said that these tags and filters were here so use them. However I put my opinion aside and tried to help in a way I thought could be beneficial, to get a dialogue going. I even stated I understood why there was frustration in trying to speak about this issue. I have been a great deal of things on this site and have been here a long time and have no issues with the current set up. But I wanted to try to help, to get the dialogue moving if nothing else.

So have I then also sold my soul to the devil? I no longer hold a position here. I never have or do make money from this place. I make no "sex selling" mods which popularize me and may get me donations. However I am the one that has pushed the conversation this way. Even though perhaps you were talking to Dark0ne, I find your statement extremely disappointing. I was a moderator. I know the staff well and know that your statement is off the mark. Frankly, this is a site for mature games, mature content and mature gamers. We do not need nannies. If I want moral lessons I will take myself to a religious instructor.

 

It is in fact you that has the paradoxes as in one hand you speak of freedoms and the other you wish to chain this place to your moral will. You speak of modders as "sacred" but only the modders who reflect brightly to your judgmental eye. Your speech here is now nothing but platitudes.

 

I have tried very hard in this thread to keep it from degrading into name calling anger and intolerance to the point no middle ground can be met. I see now that you are not willing to even try to work toward some improvements. For you it is an all or nothing game. But truth and morals are like beauty, in the eye of the beholder. I have seen this mod, I have read on sites other than the Nexus the frenzy that has taken place. From your post above I have to ask myself, Why do you stay here when you view it all in such a horrible light?

It's being talked about in the staff Slack chat that we use, so it hasn't been for nothing at all, Lisn. Right now we have a rather major project in the works (the entire redesign of the site, no less) and we're at relative feature lock-down. As in, we don't want to go changing or adding new functionality if we can help it, because the design mock-ups are locked in now. Changing one thing on the site now has a ripple effect through all the redesign as well. So while there aren't going to be any immediate changes, healthy discussion is appreciated.

 

Having said that, I completely ignored the high-school philosophy lesson above after reading the same line you highlighted. A further quick skim now shows it even got to talking about Marxist ideals after a while. Uh...what!?
