Fatalmasterpiece
So now that the first DLC is out and we've seen most or all of the features, do you guys think the original point of this thread is still true? Could modders have made this entire with the creation kit? This is irrelevant. Yes, modders could have build Automatron by now if the Creation Kit had been out in November. Modders could make the entire game of FO4 given the time and budget. I could build my own car given the right parts, time and tools, but that doesn't mean I'm going to try rather than buy one from a vendor. People can cook their own hamburgers but they don't go calling McDonalds crooks for offering them the professional service. People need to stop whining about modders being able to do X or Y. What is relevant is that the Creation Kit has been delayed, IMO in the interest of creating cross platform functionality with consoles and possibly Steam mod support. That's the problem here. The OP's premise is incorrect on many points. The first DLC is not $15. The Creation Kit wouldn't have competed with it. The Creation Kit isn't delayed due to DLC they were planning anyways as they have with every other game Bethesda produces.

Even the bigger mod teams would have taken a good six months to a year to get it fully fleshed out not counting details and world building around it. So yea, delaying the CK does not compete with the DLC.
Boombro
Even if modders could do it better, this should not the reaction from us imo. Beth, even if they can't make stuff as good as modders, are the ones who should make such stuff for us in the first place. We should not count on modders all the time. Waiting for the oblivion like house DLC and a big 5$ weapon pack beth. Edited March 23, 2016 by Boombro
Zetsumi_Nihilus
It should be obvious by now that Bethesda are purposefully delaying the release of the Creation Kit to disallow direct competition between free mods and the first 15$ of their DLC..I'd be less inclined to believe that then I would that they didn't even finish the game properly before selling it, so of course the modkit isn't finished yet. Citation needed. Come on... :DDo you really think it should be taking them more than 6 months to test the upgrade for an existing tool for their own upgraded version of the engine? How long did it take for modders to release FO4Edit, which is based on TES5Edit? 1 month, while playing the game and not getting paid... The creators of that tool even mentioned that the new engine is not much different from Skyrim's. Yeah, except, it's not so much updating the tool as making it actually work without the direct assistance of the people who know how to jury rig it into operation. I distinctly remember trying to do heightmaps or something on a previous CS/GECK and getting an error message telling me to 'call someone in office X on floor 4' for help. It's not a conspiracy. It's bad planning, and far too conservative estimates on how long it's going to take them to get things done. Same as with the game itself. Moksha8088
Will the CK will have an End Users License Agreement (EULA) specifying that mods can only be distributed and sold on Bethesda.net?
Fatalmasterpiece
Will the CK will have an End Users License Agreement (EULA) specifying that mods can only be distributed and sold on Bethesda.net? Of course not, why would it? No Bethesda Software game has ever had such a requirement and it would be unenforceable.

Unless you are on a console, then it will likely be limited to beth.net only. It'd be the only way for them to try and enforce what kind of mods get loaded. WursWaldo
This is an old article but it is something to chew on. Pete Hines LOVES paid modding.
