Do You Think the Delayed Creation Kit Will Have a Long Term Negative Effect on Modding?

It also didn't help that the intro was really weak. I thought fallout 3 was actually a very strong beginning. Gave you a place and people to care about, then one day its all taken away from you.

Fallout 4 tries to do that but, you had more dialogue with security henchmen in vault 101, then you do with your spouse. If they expanded on it, it'd have helped with a sense of loss. Looking forward to mods that try and flesh out the various factions.

I agree, but there is a problem. It would dampen the RP even more.

In my RR run, the wife was a rebel that the husband helped her to be a better person. It would really mess up if they give a deeper BS. I guess the writers thought we will fill the blanks as part of the RP.

My point which you seem to be missing is it's the first mission you get. the first town you go to. If you know know about it you can't even avoid it. It's no fun to get everything just handed to you. PA (even if it's broken and low level) A mini-Gun! (with a lot of ammo). Then you run into what should be one of the most terrifying creatures of the game.

It's like if Alien just tossed the damn xenomorph at you in the first five minutes, then spent the rest of the movie hunting eggs and face huggers.

You can, just head anywhere else, don't talk to codsworth, so no to Preston. Don't take the PA and use the front door etc etc etc.

And the past game did hand stuff for you, you get out of 101 with heaps of stuff, go to megaton and get an armored vault suit with a chat option, forced to join the BOS and get PA after you loot more than 10 bodies of BOS fallen near the GNN and all have full sets. FO3 also did hand one of the best melee weapons without you lifting a finger (the flaming sword.) and everything scales with you, so you can't go somewhere with strong spawns to get better loot and feel like you playing a legit RPG.

And mini gun ammo doesn't spawn till level 24 expect on one fixed boss, with it being really weak, slow and just overall bad it hardly worth anything.

I get it you like getting all the PA in the first 15 min of the game ok.

so then let's argue about Companions! In FO3 you had to find Dogmeat, You had to have Karma to get certain followers. In FNV you had to fix ED-E and didn't see Veronica until getting to 188. In FO4 you leave the vault and walk about 2 min you run into your first Invisible, pack-mule, meat-shield.

I'll give you that they do get hurt but you don't even have to heal them because in 30 sec. they will be all healed up and back into the fight!

And don't even try to go on a killing spree or, accidentally kill a few DC guards while you have Piper. When she turns against you you will then have an immortal enemy to fight!

And they were bad in every way. Not talking about FNV since I didn't play it that much.

Beth games AI is nothing but a joke and thanks to that followers are only useful as pack mules that will suddenly die in the past games. It true you that now they can't die so it kind of a cheat for some (pfft.), but we have to wait more games till a better AI comes around so they can at least be handy in a fight, then make them die. Now to make them even useful as mules they have to be godly.

To get them you need karma? So I only need to steal stuff from raiders(thanks to karma joke of a system.) to get the bad guy of megaton? Yeah, just give me 10 minutes. Wait, I need good karma for that other one? Let me give that homeless some water bottles I find everywhere.

How is that hard in any way really? You get them later?

Fo4 does followers better than FO3, you need to do their quests, then make sure they don't hate for them to attack you. And for real, they are hardly that useful.

It makes sense for Codsworth, he is your own personal robot and it made clear in past games that they can fight. Why anyone won't use him really in logical setting? And you have to fight a deathclaw to get him. I do have a problem with dogmeat however.

It not about when, it about how.

You said it yourself, past titles getting followers and into the BOS was harder, but for gear you want them to be easy, scaled for your level? That is just sad, boring, broken and lame. You should never be awarded when playing safe.

"You killed that strong spawn using your brain? Well gratz player, here have an award worthy of your skills." That is the way it should be done.
Beth should stop treating people like pre-teens. This is an RPG, if you fought a boss, a chest is in the hidden room after with worthy loot in it, even at level 2 and after the intro right away. If you went somewhere that has strong spawns with powerful gear, you can kill them and get them. Even after 10 minutes.
Morrowind had that. If you went somewhere, you can find a boss then can use your brain and get that sexy staff the boss was using. In dark souls 2: SOTS, you can fight a boss to get a strong ring that make OP in PVP, in pokemon you get strong pokemon, rune factory you get strong items to forge, some of monster hunter quests etc It was always fun to do so and so rewarding. I never had that in oblivion, FO3 and Skyrim, getting gear was lame, bosses not worth it, gearing up felt meh. RPG is about character progression, past the three beth games didn't have that. And thankfully, they seem going that way in fo4 and I hope they place more events around.

Seems like we are debating separate aspects of the game.

If this game had it so you had to do something really dangerous to get that power armor in the first 15 minutes - I doubt we'd be complaining. Instead its fed to you on a platter. Even if you skip that first area, you will stumble across 2-3 other sets in the first couple hours pretty much guaranteed.

Instead, this game hands you *everything*. Want to join x faction? Welcome aboard. Want a great gun? Sure, do this one quest for me. The only limit placed on the character is *your* level that controls what gear npcs can get. That sort of system just pisses me off. I want a chance at running into a raider with power armor and a gauss rifle straight out of the gate.

So instead of playing this game normally, I end up trying to power level up my toon, so that way enemies actually have interesting loot and are also not level locked into some insanely low level. (Or use several mods that can delevel various lists)

I did not follow any of what you are trying to say here.
