The Morrowind requirement is purely for legal reasons. Its so Beth can't say that we're giving people reasons not to buy Morrowind IE taking away money from them in an indirect way. I believe that once a 1.0 version comes out to the public, it will boost Morrowind sales quite a bit.

Yeah it has to be a MOD and you need to own the original game for legal reasons

I get the requirement for legal reasons, but if it is a mod for *Skyrim*, how are they going to enforce that limitation? How are the Skywind devs, or the Nexus mods, going to be able to determine that the downloader of Skywind *has* Morrowind?

The only thing I can think of would be for the Nexus to have some sort of system where you can input your game's number key, thereby giving that Nexus user the ability to download the mods. How will they combat piracy? What is to stop someone from downloading Skywind and throwing it on some torrent?

Morrowind was released in 2002, so I'm going to assume that the internet was not required for activation and that all of the keys were attached to the disc. I don't know if this is how it works, but... would they (the Nexus), have to rip open the disc to gain access to the bank of potentially available keys in order to match them with those that players put into their accounts? I doubt they can legally do that, in any case.

If this were on Steam I think that would be another matter entirely, since the player could associate their original key with their Steam account, or simply buy Morrowind again (currently $19.99 on Steam for the GotY edition). Edited by nightscrawl

I read a month or two-ago on the skywind website that both morrowind and skyrim were required. It could have changed. However, whether it has or not, one can get Morrowind from Steam or GOG for about 7 bucks, last I looked...so not a big deal, I think. My understanding is that it will function as a mod.

Wish I could do some voice acting (Australian accent) or help with lighting if needed. I think doing this would be less stressful than running my own mod - and for a bigger purpose - a community made remake of a gorgeous game.

Well it will function as mod(or is it?)... for skyrim i think, but for morrowind ? I don't know. Edited by Tegra795
