The new design

@mxnija;

Reduce your text size. I had the same result with IE9, and had to go from "Larger" to "Medium" to get all the buttons to appear in the right locations and not interfere with each other.

Thanks, finally found text size in the new FF 6. Reduced from 18 to 16 and now it works like a charm. :wallbash:

I'd just like to add, I freaking hate it. It looks way to busy. All the tools I'd use to find what was cool and awesome this week seem to be gone, it's in general harder to navigate. It just looks like a totally different website. I was confused when I came here today to check and see if anything for Skyrim was going up yet and man it looks like a hacker took over and took a dump. It's bad.....

Bring back the old design. >_>

Why fix something that wasn't broken?

As it is, all the orange is hurting my eyes... It doesn't look like a Fallout-themed site anymore.

Atleast give us the options to choose - having to waste 60% of my monitor on "filler" is... Well, a waste.

I must admit I do love the "design is bad cause I can't find stuff" people. Well duh, you can't find it cause it's moved. Learn where everything is again and you'll be fine :psyduck:

I completely agree, at first I was shocked to find a lot of the great features I loved were "missing"

However when I opened my eyes it turned out they were right under my nose.

It will take a short while to get used to, but I believe I am mostly in sync with it now.

Just got to get used to some of the smaller buttons :)

I actually would be the first one who is screaming and shouting "You took away some features!!!!111!!!###!!""" Arrrrggghhh!!!!!11112345211!! ^^

Sites change.

Some get worse, some better.

But maybe, we see Dark0nes take on it and maybe it might getting better.

I remember the first time I was linked to that site. And belive it or not, I had absolutely no clue what to do here, how to download stuff, where to find anything, what the forum is, why I cant download huge files etc . Questions over questions.

See, the old design had a lot of features accessible throughout a lot of links on the side panel. It took a lot of time to get used to it. Be honest, you probably had a hard time too.

Now, the functions are bundled under buttons.

And if you try to switch back being a newbee which still belives the internet explorer is the worlds best browser etc. :teehee: , you most likely will have no clue what this site has to offer and what these buttons are.

So yes, these buttons need to be big and hard to miss and the functions below need to be clear.

How to find and download files...

Knowing this is anything but self-evident.

And yes, we got used to the old design and we need to get used with the new as well.

I hope Dark0ne is keeping all functions we used and loved with at old design and adds some new, e.g. connecting the file sites with the forums closer like I requested here and I still hope to get heard. :P

Well, I have one more reason to love the new Nexus design - it got me to try some other browsers besides IE. Settled on Firefox v6.0. I can't figure out why there is so much trouble finding features - but it seems to be an issue for some. I have noticed a somewhat of a drop in the number of views in the image share for example, but that'll probably pick up as time goes by. The only thing I never found was the cheese and crackers - but then I guess the time has pretty much passed by on that too.

One thing I think you should consider is having a message box come up for first-time visitors saying "Pirates are not welcomed here" or something like that. The number of pirates I see being banned is tremendous and it might be because they are too lazy to even take a look in the forums. A nice, huge message box that takes up half the screen should suffice, if they are not blind.

I've been thinking a lot what to say about the new design.I can't really find anything show stopper so far. Well, everything that I post down even if they are bad things are minor quirks so you can ignore the post

Well, last time I checked the preview of the new design I think the yellow/orange colors (I don't really know what to call them) were a bit to bright for me. I think the final design has toned down those colors a bit which is a good thing.

The good parts are that I get to see a lot more at first sight when visiting the website without going to a specialized section. I'm more interested in the latest files and hot files stuff with images and the info that you get about them.

I also like the fact that the preview images/icons for mods have much better quality now. But the aspect ratio is weird sometimes. I don't really care about that.

One thing that I don't quite like is the main background with the two characters from oblivion and morrowind that are a bit distracting sometimes. I would prefer if it were more faded like the menu background. Something like a transparent gray or black overlay to fade the background.

I used zoom to fit as much stuff as possible into my screen area.

But from a programers point of view, web standards still suck because of cross browser compatibility and many other reasons. Sure there are workarounds for a lot of these kind of issues but some of them are really hacks and nothing more. The server programing behind is nice but that's about it. Html, css, javascript etc give a lot of options but as said earlier, there isn't one option that works on most browsers.

So most of the time you are stuck spending hours at a time browsing forums for various solutions to fix your website's layout on a specific browser. This is really unproductive and cam become a major source of frustrations and hate. At least this was my experience so far with web design.

I blame stupid web standards and browsers for all these problems. Despite all the layout options you get with html and css you still can't make a fully resizable website without a lot of nerves and using a specialized framework. And you don't always get the desired design or features even with a specialized framework.
