HellsMaster
Hi all Just found out that the console version of BF3 will run at 1280x704... not even 720p. I just laughed at this. Also it seems the PS3 is kinda weak for BF3 and they need to render the HUD after all things amonst other things. - HM
Halororor
No offense, but the point is? We've pretty much known this for a while now. It's like laughing because someone's Citi Golf can't reach the same speeds as someone else's BMW.
Ghogiel
Loads of consoles game don't run at 720. And actually that resolution is actually surprising ly good. I would have guessed it at the CoD games resolutions either MW2 1024x600 or 960x544 for blops And no console game is able to support resolutions higher than their PC counter part. Gracinfields
If a game is designed for the PC and is ported for the Console of Course the console is going to have the lower resolution because its running out of date hardware, and they even have other limitations on top of that. If I remember correctly both the Xbox 360 and PS3 have a modified version of Directx 9 which includes some directx 10 features, but BF3 is being designed primarly for Directx 11 something the console hardware can not support at all. Not to mention the memory for the on board hardware on the console is far smaller then that of what pc gamers have access to. Now I looked at the over all ram of the PS3 has it has 256 MB(yes that is right Megabytes not gigabytes) for video rendering that isn't even enough to run at 720 p. It takes close to 1 GB of video ram to run at 1080. Also the system has only 256 MB of physical ram meaning it can't hold as much in the work space. This means level size and stuff on the field have to be smaller yet just so the game doesn't cause the system to crash because it ran out of work space. So if you really want to see a game at its full potential you have to get it on PC.
Vindekarr
Finaly, a PC game ported to console, rather than the other way round, I LOVE it. Edited September 9, 2011 by Vindekarr
Thor.
Thats the way it should always be, gives them time to tweak it for the console instead of a crappy console port to pc. Edited September 9, 2011 by Thor.
hoofhearted4
ill still be getting it for PS3. for one i already have it preordered and wont have my PC built for a while, long after BF3 comes out. second i have a bunch of friends i played BFBC2 with and i enjoy playing with them, and am excited to play BF3 with them. and lastly, i dont like shooters on PC. i cant get used to the mouse as a crosshair. i tried it with ME2 like 10 times on the demo and i just couldnt get used to it. maybe when i build my PC ill download bfbc2 just for the fun of it and try to get used to shooters, but other then that, ill keep my shooters on my PS3 and my RPGs and others to my PC. besides, the PS3 hooked up to an HDMI tv looks pretty good none the less. no im not saying its as good as PC, we all know its not close, but it still looks good enough where im not dissappointed. other then that, this thread is just another flame war thread (though glad to see it hasnt started. nice civilized ppl of the nexus forums! why i keep coming back)
Ghogiel
You can plug your PS joypad into the PC like me, if it has official joypad support that is. I dare say they won't be as competitive up against people using mice though. Edited September 9, 2011 by Ghogiel
Vindekarr
You can also get "dual use" controllers now, like the Razer Onza, which works on either PC or Xbox 360, assuming your PC has the Xbox 360 controller drivers installed(free) And Ghogiel, I was playing Space Marine(third person shooter) online yesterday against guys with mice and keyboards, and I was trashing em, especialy at long range sharpshooting. IMO there's a major advantage in some games to joypad users, just my two cents. Especialy at 200 metres with a Lascannon.
