Please remove download restrictions for non-registered users

It took me over an hour to create this account, Nexus has apparently blocked some email providers or have a whitelist of accepted domains. When using activation link I always got a mysterious "this page doesn't exist" error and had to create a new email account for Nexus (I cleared my cookies and tried several times). I also don't know what happened to my earlier account, Nexus states it doesn't exist.

 

Users not signed in can only download files with a maximum size of 1 MB. The limitation is rather pointless and could as well be removed entirely. Please allow all users to download any mod they want, don't push Nexus accounts. The quality of discussion degrades also, creating an account should be voluntarily - I have seen a lot of hostile and troll posts around here.

It's possible that I can't sign in after removing cookies, If I'm not replying my account is probably locked...

I'm fairly certain that being a registered member is required to ensure that banned users cannot download mods. If mirrors were put everywhere it would defeat the purpose of banning people.

There are also those who are restricted from using the site by law. Being an adult site, hosting adult mods for adult only games would leave the site owner liable for juveniles having access. By registering an account you have to certify in the registration that you are of a minimum age. Even if you lie about your age during signup you have absolved the site owner of responsibility for your actions. Proper registration for site use is required and there is no realistic way of getting around it.

 

Site use and downloading of the site contents are free. Registration is such a very small issue to take advantage of all of this.

And porn sites don't care. They are more than happy to make a new site if one goes down the tubes. There are many reasons this site asks you to register. Some for the security, some for the running of the site in ways that are due to moderation and other things. Some is so that mod authors can have more control of their files. This site takes the things it does and provides seriously. A small request to register an account, which unlike many sites, will get you no spam mail or other junk..is a very small thing to ask to get access to literally THOUSANDS of mods and their support. Even with the trouble you had (which I think perhaps you got worked out?) it is still a small price to pay. I been here for nine years and well...it has more than paid the price of inconvenience.

As far as links for downloading, each file is controlled by its creator. Many folks don't mind where their files are uploaded but many more do. They want them here (or specific places) so that they can manage them better. The Nexus has no right to upload these files to any kind of mirror, this is the mod authors duty and right.

 

Many have asked over the years for this. The Nexus has not changed its policy in that time and I personally don't think they will (though I do not speak for them.)

 

I am sorry you had issues with your registration. It doesn't happen often but it seems it is all sorted. That being said if you become an active downloader and member of this site's community and can still tell me it wasn't worth the "price of admission" (registration) then I will owe you an apology. Somehow I don't think I will need to worry about that.

I am a noob here, so allow me to add another perspective. My registration here allows me the privilege of downloading any and all mods I desire without having to ask permission for each mod. But best of all, I can talk to the mod creator if I have a problem or if I think there might be something that will make the mod more enjoyable.

 

And when I am creating a mod there are literally hundreds of people I can ask for help, 'cause right now I don't know my elbow from my ... back pockets.

Removing that restriction would also be very bad for purposes of hindering mod theft for folks who would show up here, grab stuff, and stick it elsewhere without the author's permission.

Having two accounts is against Nexus policy. I would suggest contacting a moderator about this and see if they can help you out.

Yes, 8396820158, it is "strictly" against our policy. In fact, it's one of the very few insta-ban offenses. (As you would know had you bothered to read the Terms of Service to which you agreed when you became a member.) :armscrossed:
