I'm a black ex-cop, and this is the real truth about race and policing

On any given day, in any police department in the nation, 15 percent of officers will do the right thing no matter what is happening. Fifteen percent of officers will abuse their authority at every opportunity. The remaining 70 percent could go either way depending on whom they are working with.

That statistic is in no way accurate or correct. It's a theory of one guy and his buddy who agrees with him.

I am a half-breed ex-cop, Native American and Irish Catholic. The officers that I worked with were a gallant group of men and women who it was a pleasure to work with and know. But it only takes one of them using American Citizens as his private hunting grounds to tarnish the rest. When you don that Super Suit you become just one. The good or the evil of all is reflected in you. If one of you is a rat bastard you keep it a secret. One bad apple and all that.

What we're seeing now is a cleansing of America. Those who are the wrong skin colour must go. Those who worship the wrong way must go. Those whose political affiliations lean too far to the left must go.

This has been going on since the first Spaniard landed in the Americas. Today a new wave of intolerance is sweeping not just through America, but through the world. The Hitlerites were not destroyed. They were merely lying low.

Where else to practice this intolerance than in the safety of the Police Force. A place where you are above the laws of the land.

I, too, was a victim of Police abuse of authority for suspicion of something that was not even illegal. It has taken 20 years of my life now and I am still counting.

My sympathies are with the American People and I stand with them.

"Racism is woven into the fabric of our nation. At no time in our history has there been a national consensus that everyone should be equally valued in all areas of life. We are rooted in racism in spite of the better efforts of Americans of all races to change that.

Because of this legacy of racism, police abuse in black and brown communities is generations old. It is nothing new. It has become more visible to mainstream America largely because of the proliferation of personal recording devices, cellphone cameras, video recorders — they're everywhere. We need police officers. We also need them to be held accountable to the communities they serve."

That quote is the impression I get about USA in whole, considering latest news reports and states history in general. That's really funny to have police officers under full surveillance 24/7, which pretty much indicates that they can't be trusted = are prejudiced criminals...

In my opinion problem is much deeper and cannot be possibly solved by only "reforming department". That's an attitude towards different races, which has unpleasant history. And when officer abuse is outrageous, has biggest impact and media reaction, I'm sure there are lots of more, rather public cases of it. Not sure if there's any easy solutions for it, I can't even imagine any at all to be honest. While I'm very sorry for people, and general situation in these parts of US, I cannot deny how intriguing would be to observe it, and see what will happen in perspective.

I've got a question. If America was stuck in the middle of Europe instead of being so incolated from the other parts of the world, whould our contry be racist.?

I was just thinking that the reason for such attitudes might be because of our being isolated from the rest of the world , for such a long time by the oceans that surround us.

I'm not trying to make excuses for it, but I'm trying to understand it, because to me I can't really fathom the attitude.

Spend a few days in the more interesting parts of Chicago, or Detroit. You will have a much better idea of the problem.

Here's a very good explanation of the main factors that is going on with todays circumstance.I highly suggest people watch it.

@kvnchrist

Dude that was a terrible first posting with which to start a thread on a topic of this nature , its not only inaccurate , its likely just to confuse the issue and lead to a trolling thread.

I know that wasn't your intention.
