I play games for fun.Especially RPG games.

And I cheat. Why?Because its fun.Every enemy falls before me in seconds and

all followers love me almost instantly.

I have gazillion of all resources for building and everything else.

Its fun.

So question is not about me but about you.

Will you agree with me that games need to be fun?

No, they do not. Games need to be engaging.

Games like any art are meant to provoke reaction and emotion in the audience. A game only needs to be engaging. It does not need to be fun, though most try to be. Heavy Rain was never fun, but it was engaging, and made lasting impressions. This is the Police is not going to be fun, but from what I've seen it is engaging.

I disagree. The game has its problems for sure, but there are plenty of times where it feels pretty damn epic to me. Like when you first leave Vault 111 and the main theme starts to play as you prepare to head back to the surface to avenge your spouse. Another one is just after killing Kellogg (which itself is a great but too brief showdown), and you come out of Fort Hagen only to spot the Prydwen for the first time; that's when you realize you're going to have to deal with these super powerful BoS turds as well as the Institute. There are a bunch more. So yes, for me at least, the game is definitely capable of provoking reaction/emotion.

Well if you buy the game you can play the game any way you feel like playing it. If you want to build crap then build it. If you want to play because you want to be "engaged" then fine do so. If you want to cheat then cheat. If you want to play it in survival mode then go for it. If you want to just ignore quests and just explore and never follow the main story line then again go for it. And if you don't like the game for whatever reason and want to quit playing it then that's cool as well. But nobody should come here and tell other people how they should play the game based on their own opinion. Everybody has an opinion and for the most part it isn't worth squat except to that person. Again to each their own.

It's not cheating....it's using the tools that were provided with the game to get a desired outcome. Oh, and a successful game is both fun AND engaging...not one or the other. If a game is not fun, then I will stop playing it, no matter how "engaging" it is and vice versa if it's just mindless fun without engaging the player, then it gets tedious rather quickly.

And right there and then it comes to a full stop, since you obviously can't carry through on the railroaded story until you did some serious level grinding.

That's not to say the game isn't fun. It is. Absolutely. But as with every other game, I refuse to call them art. They are an entertainment product, in the case of AAA titles with a large budget, aimed at a target audience and therefore following certain parameters to reach that economic goal. It's not on the same line as some artist being isnpired by an idea and going out to paint a picture, write a novel or a stage play.
