Georgiegril
So I first saw this thread and thought, really? Now there are 500 plus posts. I am female, and prefer playing that way because I like the idea of a female Dovahkiin. However, looking at all of these posts of guys saying things like playing a girl makes them feel gay....just makes me sad. First off, gay men do not equal women. Gay men do not wish they were women. Secondly, how people choose to play this game, whether as a different gender, or a child or a non-human has no bearings on anyone else. Just like if you add mods to have 2-dimensional animated porn or a herd of puppies to follow you around and flowers falling out of the sky instead of rain. It makes me sad that there seem to be so many guys that are afraid of being perceived as gay just for a silly character in a ultimately meaningless game. As if being gay was the worst thing that one could be accused of.
jkruse05
My female characters exist because I use a set of 'presets' that have been around for...well, a long time. Characters of the three major archetypes (one male & two females) that I came up with ages ago outside of a game context and decided to use in an RPG at some point. I suppose some people might think it's boring to play the same characters in every game, but every game forces me to play them a bit differently. My warrior played in Skyrim is quite a bit different than my "warrior" played in Fallout. Even if I decide not to use those presets, like in a tabletop game, I still go about 50/50 on playing males vs. females. I try to come up with an interesting character concept first, then use whichever sex seems to fit that character better.
Deleted4308040User
The reason I don't play a female in Skyrim is the fact that none of them are really all that intimidating. I don't get the whole "warrior" feel when I try to play as one. The guys in Skyrim all look big, mean, and ugly, and they all seem ready to rip a persons face off. Plus being a young guy, I tend to not pay attention to the scenery and stare just at my female character the whole time. Takes away from the immersion in my opinion. Bellaboo1441
I'm a girl and I play a guy's character, but that's only because I don't want to be a girl and Marry Aela the Huntress. I want to train in Archery fast, but not lose any money. So by marrying her, I could do that. Guys probably play female characters because they think that girls who fight and kick butt are badass. SubjectProphet
Again, most guys play as girls because they can freely create a girl they like.

williamgolleher
Being a girl I can only guess here, but I think most guys (playing in third-person mode) prefer to look at a female's backside through hundreds of hours of gameplay rather than some beefy Nord guy's rump. She is totally right. besides guys look funny in High Heels anyway. ;)
xzavier426
For me it's quite simple. I figure if I have to look at me character for hours I might as well make something that I like to look at. Where else can you make your dream looking girl, and still have her kick major butt? Besides in video games
ringgold99
As a girl I mostly play girl characters living out my own female warrior fantasies, but I do sometimes "fire up" my male character because I like looking at his nice a.... hair. Yeah, hair. For an hour or two. I can totally understand the guys looking at girl character's rear end and enjoying it. It's a video game, after all, so who cares! Just don't equate video games and real life!
