Just read a post on the Obisidian forums with a link to a trademark registration request:

https://euipo.europa.eu/eSearch/#details/trademarks/015737133

As to the question of whether it is real or fake:

MrMatty's video about the rumor:

The thing that makes this rumor a bit more than your usual "work on the next game has already begun" thing is that somebody was willing to pay at least €850 to file the application. You can see on the linked EUIPO page that the application fulfilled Fast Track conditions, one of which is to pay a fee of $850 to €1050 within 9 days. Trademark troll? It would be a waste of money as Bethesda would surely object to the application. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this is definitely "the real thing", but at least this rumor has something "tangible" behind it. :)

Here's hoping. But I'm way beyond buying any hype or rumor. Would be nice if Obsidian had another go at Fallout. For me they're simply the better story tellers than Bethesda, and since I play these games for escapism rather than shooting everything up on sight, story is pretty important to me.

I would like to see a Fallout based in New Orleans. There is a big opportunity for things like Voodoo magic, Zombies in place of, or along with, Ghouls, partially submerged city (FYI, Parts of NO are already below sea level and are only kept dry by large water pumps) Above ground cemeteries and mausoleums ( the water table is too high to bury them underground) Spooky antebellum mansions, abandoned slave shacks, dark swamps with mutated gators snapping turtles and huge snakes, Pirates, and Cajuns. Cajun food.

I highly doubt it's real, but at the same time I highly hope it's real.

Still, I definitely won't buy it at the release day as I did with FO4 because of hype and then get burned.

That's why I encourage everyone not to listen to any PR hype. I bought FO4 at day 1, but I knew what I was getting. A Bethesda game. So I wasn't disappointed when I played a Bethesda game.

New Orleans, New York, New Jersey, doesn't matter to me where it's located, I will play it cause I love Bethesda games and I'm never disappointed from any hype which I don't pay attention to anyway, cause either way I will eventually install tons of mods that allow me to make it MY game and play it the way I want to, not the way some corporate exec expects me to play it.
