indycurt
EDIT FOR BELOW ORIGINAL POST: Evidently, I did not make myself clear in what I wrote. Simply: In my FIRST play through of the game 75% of the common containers had loot (i.e. desks, trashcans, news stands, etc.) I've started a NEW play through and now I'm finding loot only in about 20% of the same containers. Most are always empty. This has nothing to do with re-spawning because this is a new game being played. So, bottom line: The loot spawn has dropped from about 75% to about 20% in this play through. I hope that makes more sense. ORIGINAL: I think some things have changed in the last few recent Fallout 4 updates that Bethesda didn't tell us about. I just started a new play through. Only mods I'm using are primarily decorator mods (new furniture, OCdecorator, Homemaker, posters, etc. and a couple of house mods). The only others outside those types are Scrap Everything and Rich Merchants. That's about it. So, in my first play through (which was on hard setting) the desks, file cabinets, other cabinets, trashcans, etc. usually had "stuff" in them (because I take everything). I would estimate that probably 75% had some loot in them to take. In this play through (I've not changed mods or level difficulty) I am only finding that about 20% have loot. Almost every container I check is empty. It has been extremely noticeable. So did I miss some update notes that said it cut the loot that spawns in containers? I'm also finding weird stuff going on. For example today I got the quest to clear out Starlight Drive in. I got there, killed a bunch of mole rats, but the quest would not finish. Finally realized that the last thing I had to kill was now located at a big sink hole way far away from the drive in. The marker actually said "clear out Starlight Drive In" but it was no where near the drive in. Weird stuff. Anyone else finding this issue?? DoctorKaizeld
i get some weird issues as well in my game. for example at my settlements several NPC named "Settler" will show up but they arent part of the settlement and just stand together usually in the spot where people wait ti give you annoyingly repetitive quests. when i interact with them thy just give me generic settler dialog that doesnt change no matter what happens at a settlement. also sometimes they spawn hostile and the rest will fight them endlessly until you kill the hostile ones as they will go down and just sit on the ground for a little bit before getting back up and continue fighting. the hostile ones are almost always legendary. also if you kill them no one reacts unless you dealt AOE damage and hit the ones around the one you killed, and sometimes when they die a gun will appear using the Synth dialog and float around shooting at you till you kill it by shooting the gun. oh and until i kill all these extra settlers my settlement wont spawn more settlers that are actually a part of the settlement. after i hit the 20 settler cap for Sanctuary though they mostly stopped spawning there. loot never respawns in most containers but loose stuff respawns normally every few days... though recently i have noticed that containers will randomly respawn loot but it is never consistent. enemy NPCs will become invincible when they are at 1 HP even though my shots should have killed it with the only way to deal with them is to run away and have them stop following or enter a building... though human enemies like this will sometimes just follow me inside and still be invincible. ghouls have so far never had this happen to them for me though... cossayos
Not in a sink in the kitchen, Coss, but a sinkhole, the one just outside Greentop Nursery, probably... Most notable in these large Victorian style chests. Don't know how they're called ingame. I was kind of surprised when building the first one of them and on my return to the particular settlement, they contained a crystal decanter. That's quite some time ago when I first noticed. So, certainly not a new addition. Also, it's in containers you set up yourself, not preexisting ones.

cossayos
I never had any of the above issues. In my first playthrough I rather notived the absence of loot as opposed to previous Fallouts. It seemes less. Most containers I stumbled upon were empty. And they still are. No more, no less so. And I never encountered the settler issue either. If I have settlers, they're my settlers and not some random spawns. Never had them. Now I'm using several settler related mods, such as "Don't call me Settler" and "Better Settlers" or "remove stupid lines" or however the mod is called that takes care of most of the repetitive and stupid settler comments. But I can't say if the vanilla game throws in some random spawns.

Indycurt wasn't talking about a sink, but about a SINKHOLE And he wasn't talking about 'stuff' but about a molerat, one that should have been at Starlight Drive-In... I have over 4000hrs in FO4 (am on my 15th re-run; didn't play 'em all to the end, mind) and never ever have I seen animals or any living creatures spawn inside containers or furniture... And Indy is correct. I have also noticed that there's containers and even ammo boxes that used to have items in earlier plays but since update 1.7.9 (I skipped updates between this one and the 1.5.157 one) they are empty. However, I think that Bethesda balanced things out differently, because when you level up (and get higher ranks in the Fortune Finder and Scrounger perks) less and less containers are found empty.
