[WIP] Atvir Dres: The Last Prince of Tear

First thanks. This is an amazing mod. The best companion in the game. I know how much work this took. And I know it's a labor of love really. I mean, Atvir is even better then what's-her-face in Dawnguard.

I have a few questions though.. what's this "tracker quest"? Is it just a marker so I can see where he is on the map? And given his "personality" I've been a little afraid of asking him to stay put in one place. Afraid he might go his own way and I'll never find him. So if I tell him to "wait here" - will he? I ask this cause I'm running the DB quest line, and I'm concerned what he might "think" after so many murders. Considering who he worships this might not be an issue, though.

Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the mod.

Regarding "Tracking Atvir", you assumed correctly, the quest is simply used for the map marker it provides. Since Atvir can be ordered to meet you elsewhere (and may become seperated from you for other reasons, particularly in future updates), I wanted the player to have multiple methods of locating him. Currently, it is always active, unless the quest "Was it something I said?" is running, so it shouldn't be possible to lose him unless he doesn't want to be found.

If you ask Atvir to wait or relax, he will stay put (within the confines of the cell, at least) indefinitely. He isn't subject to the three day limit that vanilla companions have. And I wouldn't worry about his opinion regarding the DB questline; Atvir has a rather callous attitude towards life, and will happily accompany you on any murderous rampage (from a game mechanics perspective, his empathy and relationship counters haven't been instituted yet, so he doesn't actually have much of an opinion about any of your actions).

I downloaded Atvir last night...and I am so loving him. I love how he has so much to say, and his wit. He actually makes my character seem like the 'dead' one! LOL! Which is really nice for a change from the vanilla followers.

I cannot wait for further updates, and maybe even more dialogue! ^_^

Walking around with him, it actually feels like there is another character there. His random comments, his personality, it really helps bring the idea of a 'gang of adventurers' to life, something vanilla Skyrim was sadly missing.

Sorry that I've been away for a few days; I've been working a proposal for a new show lately, so my time's been taken up with that.

Glad to hear that Atvir has so many new fans! To answer your question, Nakatika (and Cal :)), Atvir's age is something of a grey area - and no, that's not a Dunmer pun. I've never seen a concrete lifespan given for elves in TES, but for the purposes of some of the quests, I'm establishing that they can live for several hundred years. Raylin Dreylin, who you'll meet in the next update, was around during the Red Year.

Atvir, on the other hand, is a second-generation immigrant to Skyrim, who was born in the relatively early stages of the Fourth Era. An estimate of approximately 175 years probably isn't far off the mark.

I just had a thought the other day, it would be kind of icing on the cake but still I figured I'd mention it.

I understand that in the future Atvir will be able to recognize the player's race, but there are many custom race mods out there- is it possible that he can have a special response to seeing a race that he doesn't know about? Like, if player is not "nordrace/highelfrace/ect" then have him say something else? I don't use custom race mods, but I know people do and it might just add more immersion that Atvir is a thinking living individual.
