New Nexus Mods design launched

On my smartphone I use the old version in desktop mode (google chrome). In the search list I can see more mods on a page and see their short descriptions by just holding down the mod I want.

And by the simplicity, the page and images load quickly.

In short, I love the old search page on both PC and Android.

Since 2013 with Skyrim and this website, I registered in 2014. You are the best.

PS: I love the main page of this new version and the phrase: "We host 237,520 files for 471 games from ..."

Well done guys :D You've done an amazing job. I much prefer the new version to the old.

I have read the comments from users that are unhappy, and i totally understand it. But for me this is a huge step forward, and much easier on my eyes.

Happy this is nearing then end, as I am patiently waiting for the new mod manager too :)

I've got to say that, while I'm sure it's all very useful - the new design is just horrible to look at on my PC. It also actually seems less functional. It gives the strong impression of having been designed for tiny mobile phone screens which is great if you're using a mobile phone. It's also really hard to access the full games list anymore because I just get this annoying grid of random images (probably based on what's popular). I enjoy the ability to scroll down the list, to peruse what's on offer, and see if something new's been added.

With the new list display system finding new games will be harder because they won't have many entries to push them to the top.

I'm glad that the new version of the site uses live data but, at the moment, it just hurts my eyes. I'm glad that many people like it but I hope I can continue using the old look for a long time to come.

As a user of the site more than a poster or modder, I have to agree the new UI is too damn big, too damn clunky and too damn data heavy for my usage.

The old/current UI works just fine on my 27" 2560x1440 monitors and fits all the important information just fine whilst taking 1, *maybe* 2 seconds at the worst to load the main page with the old UI.

Swapping to the new UI it took 10-15 seconds to load all the cruft code just to see what the hell was changed before I almost instantly hit the "return to old interface" button to save my eyes from the messy hell and save my limited data cap from being abused just loading the main page.

A good UI for a well-worn site like this shouldn't take 10-15 seconds on barely 8mbps ADSL (or 800KB/sec) to load the one main page. The fact it even takes the 10-15 second on the new UI means you're wasting at least 8 megabytes of data caps (yes they still exists such as here in Australia) on useless code for "fancy" (code-word for "really bloody ugly") looks that are useless on a desktop system like most gaming rigs or even laptops (what with their 1366x768 monitors normally, unless you shelled out for a 1080p screen).

Personally, i don't like it!!! Very!!! The old design is:

- nice looking;

- soft and smooth layout of pages;

- corners in each section or picture are pleasantly rounded;

- on the page for a specific game on the sides is clearly visible a beautiful background related to the game;

- the entire page is well distributed - there is nothing superfluous, no empty space!

In the new design:

- everything is very brutal;

- too straight lines;

- angles unpleasantly sharp;

- not visible background;

- in some places is too large font;

- in many places there is too much empty space!

- where's the "more recent files"?!

- "search" section is too big... WHY?!

- because of the extended partitions and empty space, we have to scroll much longer!

- on the page of the specific mod if there is a video in the description, it's too big, WHY?

The only thing that i liked here is section "News & Updates" on the main page! But it's the ONLY THING!!!

Would be much better in the old design to delete the section "Our latest files" and then put there "News & Updates" for all games (Like in the new design)!!!

In short, I say NO to the new design!!!

P.S.

Sorry if my english is bad - it's not my native language...
