I find it VERY amusing that a lot of the people in favor of the new design have less than 100 posts, some even less than 50 posts. The new design is a complete mess, uses more memory, and hurts my eyes to the point that I can't even evaluate it fully.

PLEASE for the love of god, give us the option to use the old design if we so choose.

I had noted this as well, but didn't raise it my main post. A lot of throwaway accounts singing the new sites praises, usually with 2 or 3 word comments. No doubt the site owner will focus on such considered, quality comments like, 'looks gr8t! 'from pump and dump accounts with 50 posts. I can see a lot of confirmation bias being mined from such posts.

Uh, wouldn't discounting people's opposite opinions to your own based on their post counts be, uh, confirmation bias?

I'm just saying.

pra wrote: It's ok, I guess. What annoys me is this dark overlay with the "view mod" button appearing when I mouseover a mod.

Also, please remove the search bar. It doesn't work anyway. Maybe use some google custom search instead.
PukinDumpling wrote: What do you mean, the search doesn't work? Because it sure as hell does...
BlindJudge wrote: The search should be working? Please, can you give some examples as to how it isn't and we'll look into it. Thank you for the feedback.
TheMagician16 wrote: It doesn't work reliably for me. When I search for mods, it doesn't always show the mod I was looking for. I think it is tag related as the same happens when I try to browse mods. As an example, sometimes I cannot search and find the unofficial patch mod on SSE site. So I have to switch to old design or use google. That isn't the only example, i search for a lot of mods and almost 50% of the time they do not show up unless I use Google/old site. I have tried removing all tags and filters and still no luck.
pra wrote: Well, I can't remember the last time I actually found anything using the nexus search function.

After testing it again it seems to work, at least if you remember exactly how the mod was called, since only the title is being searched by default.
I have no idea on which logic search by description works, but "settler rename" brings up exactly one result, despite there being several mods which do that, one of which I uploaded myself. It seems like the order of words is actually important, since "rename settler" brings up 8 results.
MrMason wrote: If you're seeing incorrect search results then please post the specifics in the bug tracker and we will investigate: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/web-issues/issues
ScrollTron1c wrote: I'm pretty sure that you have certain tags blocked.

IIRC when the "XBone Version available" tag was added, this was not enabled by default and thus every mod with the tag was filtered out from searches.
Jeir wrote: I've never had an issue with the Nexus search, and every time someone's said they couldn't find something in particular, it's always been because they're blocking tags.
The tag system is very flawed. It's best not to block anything to make sure you actually get accurate results. See something you don't like that used to be blocked? Just don't click on it and move on. =)
pra wrote: Hm, I indeed had the tags "xbone available" and "ps4 available" blocked. Okay, we'll see if that improved anything.
TheMagician16 wrote: Well many of the mods I was searching for already is avaliable for X1, so that's not the issue, and I did remove the tags. MrMason, I will take a look and sumbit something if I manage to figure out how that website works.

Edit: i will double check to make sure
ScrollTron1c wrote: The two console version tags need to be enabled though. Otherwise all mods with the tags are filtered out from your search results (old and new version confirmed).
TheMagician16 wrote: I could not find those tags and when I went to "Browse all mods" to look at the top list of mods, some of them were missing, such as the unofficial patch.

I even used clear filters, disabled some tags, re-enabled and in the end just went back to my content blocking setup. Even the "refine search" function didn't mention anything about mods not being found because I had used the "clear filters", only thing it possibly could hide is mods from blocked authors, but none of the mods I am looking for has authors I have blocked.

In that picture the Unofficial Patch is missing for some reason.

Edit: Ok, so to actually see some of the mods that I could not find I had to separately disable them from the profile settings and not just from the "Refine Results". And for some reason the Unofficial Patch counts as either; Save games, translation, Anime, Skimpy content because when I unlocked those tags it showed up suddenly. So I guess the problem is with the tags?
solonlost wrote: I'll have to second that. I use google to search the nexus, because I regularly cannot get the search function to bring up the mod I'm looking for, even if I'm completely certain I'm using words that are in the title. Even if you search for a single word that you know is in the mod name, it regularly doesn't bring up what you're looking for anywhere in the search results. The only specific time I can recollect however is also with the unofficial patch someone else was also having problems with.

I should mention that the unreliability has prompted me to switch to using google to search the nexus.
ScrollTron1c wrote: Alright i can now confirm the problem with some mods not showing up.

I did a search for "Requiem" on the new Skyrim site, the results only showed all kinds of Requiem patches but not the main mod. And i could only access the real Requiem mod page over a "required mods" link from one of the patches.

Searching "Requiem" on the old page shows the mod as first result.

For me, it will not return any results when searching for mod authors.

My main interest is regarding the image sharing section, I can only talk about that; all in all, I am quite pleased with the result.

Among the improvements, the larger image layout, that's very obvious. Quick tour: Sticky-posts seem to work everywhere now, thumbnails are much nicer, seems special characters are now accepted in titles, IP filtering so we can now get a better idea on the real number of views. Design-wise, this is a good improvement, easy to adapt.

As for the modding section, where I often go, so far so good.

Back to the image-sharing: Now will you redefine the "social" stuff as the endos, friends, and kudos? See if you could offer us to have these things private, optional (I don't want to force people commenting, if they are happy by pushing a button as I do, it's all good to me...but why the necessity to show it?). Redefining the top sections would be nice as well. And finally, this should be a must, more options, as in the modding section, on the blocking tools. On the minor upgrades; more editing tools as we have in the PM section (more fonts, colors)...and the image-zooming one, that would be rather very welcomed ;)...and see if we could embed videos from other sources than YT.

Still, I like where this is going.

Cheers!

Thanks for the new clean design. It's elegant and easy to read and navigate. I hope Vortex follows the same principles.

Just a few suggestions:

The 'Welcome to Nexus mods' takes up too much room - half the size would be better.

It appears you are using screenshots to represent some of the games. The official logo or box art would be instantly and visually navigable.

The Tracking Centre [ which feels really nice now ] given its usefulness should have more prominence. Maybe it's own button near the search bar.

I know a lot of people dread redesigns of favourite sites but I think your site UI designer and your staff did a great job.

With my respect, I don't like the new design. It doesn't feel intuitive for me and hurts my eyes cause there are too many things popping out. Also, the whole scrolling down thing seems clumsy and just doesn't feel natural and convenient. While I'm aware of the amount of work put behind it, I have to say I will stick with the old design for now. Edited by setsunae

Dark0ne, no one has more respect for you than I do and I mean that sincerely. My post was not meant to start an argument, it's only intention was to blatantly point out that some responses in this thread were of the "questionable" nature due to the 2 facts that they were VERY short and from some users that had little to no posts made in the past. PLEASE consider letting the user of your content choose which version of the site THEY like best. Thank you for everything that you and your staff do.

Honestly I liked the old one better, but in full disclosure I hate change, I have a state of the art new PC, and the desktop looks like windows 95, I'm not kidding lol.

Lucky for me at least for the time being if I keep some tabs open with the old nexus layout any new page I connect too from the old tab stays in the old style, again at least for now, so as long as I don't close all the old tabs on my browser I can keep the old style.

I'm with you on that. I prefer the old design but if I must then I'd eventually get used to the new I suppose.
