Transient3292
as someone who's been playing on and off since released the modding scene is far from dead. sim settlements is about to release an expansion that most likely has some sort of self building settlements, horizon seems to be growing and had added it's own sum settlements type of placement mod, there's the knockout framework and some great new pacify mods that use that. cascadia is a new world space that is being heavily worked on, and the authors are putting out their work as seperate mods, new ncr armor, extra dialogue interface which is a great framework, mcm menu speaks for itself. they've also traded a new skill system that takes it back to new vegas style skills. Ethreon has put out some great new assets to build with, castle in the sky, border junk etc. let's not got too hyped for the work that's coming along on fallout 4 new vegas and fallout 3 In fallout 4, we know how those projects go, but both teams have been releasing some great smaller mods that have resulted from their work on the games. most if not all of what i mentioned have been released in the last couple months, and that is not including modders that are currently working on smaller things, and people like me that are teaching themselves hown to put their ideas out through the creation kit. sorry to any other authors that have released game changing mods that I've forgotten about, there's so many to keep track of! ArchGaden
Objectively, Fallout 4 has one of the most active modding scenes. Of course's not as active as it was during it's prime, which I judge to be a couple months after the Creation Kit finally released. The biggest effect has been Skyrim SE, as it sucked some dedicated modders back. There are still several new mods and dozens of updates every day. I've seen some mods vanish (Better Stores comes to mind) and some lose support (like Synth Fabrication). At the same time, plenty of new exciting mods have popped up. I don't think the modding for Fallout 4 will slow significantly from where it is until another Bethesda game comes out. There aren't many modder friendly options out there. JimmyRJump
There's always going to be a decline as time moves on. I mean, there's only so much mods that can be made, but, twenty-two mods added today? One hundered and six new mods this week? Dead? Not yet. mkr1977
Lots of the mods supported previous versions of Fallout 4, and are buggy when using the latest patch. Those authors that didn't have time to properly update are doing you a favor by removing their mods. I don't think the modding scene is dead. I think its actually likely to get a lot better. jkruse05
Keep in mind as well that every Bethesda game gets more and more complex, meaning it takes more and more time to make complex mods. I've been working on a gun for Fallout 4 for months (in large part because things don't work right and I get too frustrated to keep working). I could make a sword for Morrowind or Oblivion in a weekend, and Fallout 3 is only slightly worse, but with the new attachment system, specular maps, and 2-4k textures, expectations for Fallout 4 items are much higher. Raider5
as for vanishing, I dont remember details, but a while back some Mods did vanish, sort of, it had some thing to do with NEXUS moving to a new server or updating or some such, and it changed something in the addresses, so the mods were still there bu the old link took you to a page that said it didn't exist or had been removed. Like I said I don't remember the details but that was the crux of it. Me, I have never posted a single mod I've made on here. Most of the time its because I don't think they are good enough to post or because its something minor. the few big mods I've done for myself I debated on posting on here and after careful thought decided not to. Why because I don't want to leave any one hanging if something happens and I can't update, or fix some thing and frankly I didn't feel like putting up with the inevitable whiners who will complain the mod doesn't do what they want or want a million changes. Me, I get a mod and I like x features but not Y features, I either Ignore Y if I can or open the ck and do what I need to do. and we are past the new game mod rush, and settling into the its been a while, and only dedicated FO4 modders are still at work phase. anyway ... have a good one folks and Merry christmas. sopmac45
@ Lehcar ..... .... agreed with what everybody said and Fallout 4 mods are not dead. There are new mods coming every week so IMHO, they are not probably what I want, but exactly what is it that you are looking for ? I have been playing since 2 years and the only mod that I wanted to update was WOTC ( War of the Commonwealth ) and I have a great new for you : - the current owner of this mod is making a new one : SOTC ( Spawns of the Commonwealth ) and it will replace WOTC and it will come up with too many surprises that nobody thought about it before, so if you want something new, just wait a couple of months and you will have a fresh new mod that will put your game to a different level of action. For me this is the cherry on the top of the ice cream cuz everything is this game is about combat / surviving and this mod will put our player ( character ) to a test. Also there is another new mod : Glowing of the Sea that completely enhance the South of the map. Read WOTC posts and you will find out. Also, you can join Discord and ask your questions about this new upcoming mod directly to the author. Last but not the least, and perhaps this is topic to be discussed : new games from Bethesda do not allow modding ( like Wolfenstein 2 ) so for me, games like that one are dead. If there is a game that cannot be modded, IMHO, that game is dead. Skyrim and Fallout 4 ( to mention only those two ) are still alive and will continue being alive as long as people continue adding mods and I like that. SMB92
Thanks for the free advert sopmac :) In regard to OP, well Quince99 seems to think so. Removed all his work cos he wasn't getting downloads and endorsements or otherwise, attention. Not that his mods were polished or anything....
