How do I go back to NMM?

NMM was so simple. Just move mods up or down for load order. Now I have to organise them all myself and get spammed about conflicting mods that aren't even installed. It's also visually a nightmare because of the lack of 'folders' which NMM had. Why have they downgraded their mod manager?

aww, bless you. as i put in your other post, you seem to be somewhat tired and emotional. if i were you, i'd crawl back under your rock and pretend none of this ever happened.

So do you think all those thorough documentations, wikis, FAQs, videos, etc. are all done for the sport of it? Try using some of it before making claims of how awful Vortex is and how you want NMM back. Conflicting mods is easy to resolve, can be tedious if you have 100+ mods, but it's easy. Vortex sorts for you, and you can still change the load-order if you were so inclined. Folders can be created and utilized in Vortex. How do I know all this? I read the documentation, and used spent time teaching myself some of it as well. Well, that, and HadToRegister & 1ae0bfb8's often times insightful and helpful posts.

That's kind of the point we were getting at. NMM didn't require looking over wikis or documentation. You could figure it out on your own without much confusion. Anyway I should apologize to Augusta Calidia for being cheeky. I'm sorry, the version of NMM you linked works perfectly, thank you. o/

Mhm. Sure it didn't. And that's why we have so many load order issues, cause everyone could figure it out just by vaguely looking at their mods.

Go read the NMM support section then.

NMM was "easy" because it let you set up terrible load orders and it wouldn't tell you of any problems.

It worked on the "Ignorance is bliss" ideology.

Oh fun. This thread makes me leery of installing anything. I go away from the game and mods for a few months due to work going nuts and come back to something new. Wish me luck in catching up and getting everything working correctly. I want to be able to mod/play when I have 2 weeks off during Christmas.

These threads are always started by people who didn't bother to watch the tutorials, or read anything in the knowledge base built into Vortex.

The people who actually spent time learning Vortex and are using it successfully are the ones you don't see in this forum.

If you want to continue to use NMM, you can still download and install it from here: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager/releases.

If you want to use Vortex, be advised to set aside your preconceptions of how a mod manager should work. That's why it's very important to visit the Vortex Knowledge Base. I would recommend that you pay special attention to issues of load order management, file conflict resolution, and the use of hardlinks in Vortex.

May your Christmas gaming be a joyful holiday experience!

if you read these forums, you will see a common theme. a lot of people who embarass themselves calling vortex fit to die when every problem they have/had is easily resolved if they follow the instructions.

if you are good at following basic instructions and doing what something (vortex) tells you to do - you will transition to vortex in about an hour or less (depending on how many mods you manage). if you are not good at doing that and think that you know much better than any mod manager, then you're going to be in for a miserable experience.

read these forums. look for the common questions, such as what folders your staging and deployment settings point to. basically do your homework.

or, stick with what you've got if it works for you. you are not compelled/ordered/instructed/demanded to transition to vortex - only idiots think that. the same idiots who can't do much more than turn on their pc and blame the world for their own shortcomings.

I was hoping to just mod/play, but now I have to do homework first to learn Vortex. Need to find out if I should just start over with mods or what. Too sleepy today to figure it out.

Then continue to use NMM if you can't be bothered, or are too tired to learn about it.

Nobody is begging you to use it.

Now, unless you have an actual question, instead of just complaining I'm going to move on and unfollow this thread.
