Fkemman11
On many websites, we have like buttons. The thing is that not everyone uses the same set of standards when it comes to deciding when to endorse something or not. I generally understand it to mean that if something is cool or makes you smile, then you hit the like button to show it. Other people, though, have said that they will only "like" something if it is truly awesome. So, what should be liked and what shouldn't be in your opinion and why? HadToRegister
My 'likes' range from "Yea, I'm acknowledging I read your post" to "I really like this"
DoctorKaizeld
I think a better point is why do people give 4 out of 5 stars but then go on to praise the thing without saying a word about why they took a star off!
montky
Obligatory nod to R Barthes, D Hume, R Magritte, A Korzybski etc etc... Are we talking about "Likes" as a system at NMM, or more broadly?----- it seems a '2Logic Bayesian" oversimplification of choicespace, there are 3 options - Like, Dislike, |No-Response|.though in an era of YOLOTLDR,it makes sense for a kind of 'short-hand'...still, it feels too close to "Superdeterminism" in that bayesian facet,meta-data-minery and predictive-analytic-advertising etc. I personally prefer to leave constructive criticism or feedback etc, rather than just a 'like'.Usually, its in the form of a reply-vid/remix of the thing in question. Fkemman11
My 'likes' range from "Yea, I'm acknowledging I read your post" to "I really like this"Yeah, I've used the like button to just say "Hey, I read your post". Other than that if I agree with someone moderately to strongly or something makes me chuckle and I don't want to get involved in the convo- then I endorse it. I tend to endorse all mods for the effort unless they are completely fubarred. What do you think about kudos here?

But, when you are trying to respond to multiple posts it can get a little confusing. I wonder do people feel shirked when they get a "like" rather than a written response? I do that often. I guess I'm always leaving room for improvement. Nothing deserves all of my praise. Well, very few things do. Speaking of, I hate the many places have cowered from the star system. Netflix and YouTube in particular (Netflix particularly pisses me off, because they're protecting the feelings of professionals.. rather than YouTube protecting mostly amateurs). I hear that Netflix is now going to get rid of reviews entirely. They were so much better before they got involved in creating their own content. Now they're actively manipulative. DoctorKaizeld
The star system is far better. The like dislike system was fine for yt comments though
Deleted54170User
Oops! I don't like this thread. Where is the button to share my opinion on it? The old saying I remember is, "If you can't say something good about anything, don't say anything about anything you can't say anything good about." Shove off and go find something you like before you find yourself in a brawl because you shouted out that you didn't like what you were seeing. Leave already! Get out of the hate house you live in and find the house you like filled with the people you like, the things they do that you like, and the way everyone lives that you like. If you find yourself thinking your brain is about to pop because you don't like what you see, get away, run away, NOW! I'm going to take my own advice and leave this thread NOW before I write something I will regret later about John Belushi.
