linking manually downloaded mods to Nexus Mods

I have only recently started using Vortex and it is lovely to use! One issue I have encountered that so far I have not found a workaround for:

Manually downloaded mods that are then added to Vortex can't connected to their Nexus Mods pages.

NMM was able to find said pages via the mod-ID in the file name, but Vortex doesn't do that - or is there an option I have overlooked? I have checked all that I could think of, and found nothing that would let me 'Fix download IDs and check for updates' the way NMM did.

If such a feature does not yet exist, I (and possibly many others) would dearly love to see it implemented one day.

You will need to add the mod ID manually so that you can access the Nexusmods page. In Vortex go to your mods page, mouse over a mod and double-click. A panel will open on the right hand side of the screen. Select "Nexus Mods" as source, enter the mod ID in the appropriate box, and then the mod will be linked to Nexusmods. (If I don't have the mod ID at hand, I check the mod title. If the ID is not included with the title, then I click "Open in File Manager" and look for the mod ID there.)

Sometimes entering "Nexus Mods" from the drop down will give you the option to click "GUESS" for the Mod ID, which works.

Thank you for the information, it works like a charm indeed! :)

Biggest problem I have with manually downloaded mods is that you can't click "reinstall" in Vortex.

I just went and tried it out, and I was able to reinstall mods easily - both scripted ones and non-scripted ones. Or am I missing something once more?

For mods I "Installed from File", when I mouse over the Reinstall action, it says "No associated Archive" and does nothing if clicked.

As J.O.D. has already noted, the manually downloaded mod archive has to be in the game-specific Vortex download folder before the "reinstall" function will work. If the mod is downloaded to a different folder, then you can either drag and drop it into the "Drop File(s)" box at the bottom of the mods page in order to copy it to the download folder or copy the mod directly to the download folder. However, if the mod is not already in the download folder, then clicking on "Install from File" will install the mod but will not copy it to the download folder.

Be aware that from time to time the Guess feature guesses wrong! I'd give it about a 95% accuracy rating. Double-check that the ID it assigns it is correct.
