Vortex won't start after the update

Same thing happened to me.

 

 

edit: I rollback (just use the installer from last week still in my pc). And everything seems to function. Will ignore the update until this issue is resolved.

Same thing here. Windows 10 machine, and after upgrading to 0.16.10 it didn't start at all. No new log under %appdata%\Vortex directory with the last entry just showed update successful, like:

Maybe it is something with the updating process, not necessarily 16.10. I have 16.10 and it starts/works just fine. If it were me I would download it from Git Hub and just install it over your existing installation. That is how I have been updating, not from within the app itself and all is well.

Could you post the Github link? The manual download from Nexus isn't working for me either.

That is also what other experienced users have said Zanderat. Perhaps the dev team can confirm this and/or find out for all of us the root of the problem

 

 

Personally, I did not have any problem with the last update. I was also able to download a mod immediately after my last version was updated.

If somebody continued with the issue, you can uninstall and reinstall Vortex again. I did this before when updating to the last version and it did work and my data files and mods ( including saved games ) were not lost in the process.

Was there anything unusual when it came to the way you updated?

 

How exactly did you update?

 

Have updates worked fine for you before?

 

Also, can you please go to AppData/Roaming/Vortex/temp/dumps and see if you have any logs there. This is where crashlogs for native code failing would be placed.

 

 

I am afraid atm we do not have much information to go on so anything you can provide might be able to help us.

I quit the game just minutes ago, then windows notified to allow vortex to change stuff and I clicked yes.

I didnt know if it was for the update today or not but probably is that's why I checked here right away.

The Vortex.exe was gone, the desktop shortcut has no target and reinstalling the previous 1 click vortex installer didn't work as it couldn't run the vortex uninstaller.

I tried again, and surprisingly, it pushed through with all the hand arranged load order.

Eveyrthing is fine again. That was scary.

I am sorry to hear that a lot of users are having difficulties and I do hope that soon you will be able to have Vortex available.

 

Personally I received my notification yersterday when I logged in to Vortex and I chose : Update and Restart. About 10-15 seconds later my Update was done to the last version. Immediately I went to download a mod for my Fallout4 and no problem whatsoever.

 

I have been logged in and out several times since yesterday to Vortex and not a single problem.

 

Just 1 hour ago I decided to update my game and FOSE and also I updated some mods and not a single problem as well. Everything on my end is working as usual.

 

The only problem I had was with one mod : AWKCR that anytime I was automatically downloading the last version, I got an error stating that this mod could not be extracted where my mods folder is so I decided to delete from C:\Users\me\Documents\VORTEX DOWNLOADS ( this is the name I gave to my folder ) the new version of AWKCR ( 8.1 ) and install instead the previous version ( 8.0 ) and the automatic download was perfect so definitely that mod version is not extracting and this is not Vortex related issue but something on that mod version that is not doing what is supposed to. To the heck with that new version till the mod author fix it. Already reported in his mod posts.
