DarthAndrea2814
My current issues with the software, download area in the UI is to small and can't be resized, Downloads can't be removed from that screen so their always showing after a download is finished and installed. There are no Tools Options like with NMM where things like BodySlide or Loot and the like can easily be accessed and run. And Finally there are no categories for mods their all just there in install order .. this all needs to change. As an addition of a quick, easy and OBVIOUS way to manually sort mods in a personal load order .. Currently after a week of using Vortex none of these things are in the software, unless I'm completely blind. Either that or they were hidden under some sub menu I've yet to find. NMM was a easy to understand pick up and use software. Vortex apparently needs tutorials. This is a mistake. Someone starting modding any game for the first time is going to be confused as hell by this.
Guest deleted34304850
i fully migrated my heavily modded fallout 4 game from nmm to vortex in 45 minutes. its as easy as you want it to be.
Grestorn
There are many tutorials for NMM, too. And even though I agree that there's room for improvement for Vortex, NMM is not a good example at all, because just hides complexity with simplistic, inadequate solutions (which don't help the user really). HadToRegister
Vortex apparently needs tutorials. This is a mistake. Someone starting modding any game for the first time is going to be confused as hell by this. So, CBBE, Bodyslide, Outfit Studio, Xedit, the GECK and other pieces of software have tutorials too, does that mean they are all bad?Software shouldn't come with manuals? Even Pop-Tarts™ come with instructions. Toasters come with instructions to not use them in the bath, because there are people out there who will try. Someone starting modding ANY Game is going to be confused as hell by anything, because they're "Someone starting modding", that's how it works.Someone just starting playing guitar is going to be confused as hell by open and barre chords, that's what guitar lessons are for.The real problem is people who don't want to spend any time learning a new piece of software (Which is why software comes with MANUALS...) expect to just fire up a new piece of software, and when they hit the slightest bump, instead of reading or watching any tutorials and FAQS, run to the forum and make the same 5 threads "Can't do dis, wat do?" when the question has been answered a million times. Hopefully some people will work their way through the tutorials and realize what an actually easy piece of software this is to work with, especially when it comes to have a stable load order, because it requires MINIMAL effort on the users part. The people who insist on using standalone LOOT, and outright REFUSE to turn off "Auto-Sort" while purposely messing up their load orders with Standalone LOOT are never going to like Vortex because they insist on fighting against what Vortex would do for them if they'd allow it to do it's job. Those people still have "File Extensions" set to "hidden" in their OS and like to Manually Install things, "because". My routine with vortex has become "Download a s***-ton of mods while Vortex installs and sorts them for me, while I keep browsing and downloading mods, and dealing with the occasional file conflict when Vortex alerts me to one.I literally got Fallout 3 up and running with 112 mods in around 30-45 minutes, instead of hours with NMM restoring and reinstalling overwritten files etc because Vortex does that automatically, allowing you to NON-DESTRUCTIVELY experiment with your load order, THAT, feature alone is POWERFUL AF™. Probably the best kept 'secret' of Vortex is the Right-Hand sidebar that pops out when you double-click on a mod, that one isn't obvious to the average user. AugustaCalidia
Even Pop-Tarts™ come with instructions. I couldn't stop giggling when I read that line!
Ethreon
Man I'd hate to see this person ever get their hands on any 3d modeling program.
Thandal
Yes, it seems someone doesn't understand what using any modding tool, but especially a beta version of a modding tool, actually means. Hint: Among other things it means spending time with the materials provided learning how to use that tool.
chanchan05
I don't understand this aversion to reading/watching manuals and tutorials. I'm on several tech forums and like entire pages of questions from people which could have been resolved if they bothered to go through tutorials/manuals.
