I have spent way too much time trying to fix conflicts between mods that I did not have conflicts with when using NNM however, I am trying to move forward and actually play a game not vortex game of mod managing

Can anyone give me the best clean start for fallout 4 using vortex mod manager, I have tried but vortex seems to remember old mod installs and auto installs mods and stuffs my game play.

Cheers :geek:

The best advice I can give you is to do some serious study. There are excellent videos and knowledge base articles available that can provide you the information you need to resolve issues yourself. You may want to start here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7060326-vortex-help-center-faq-documentation/.

In your studies you will discover, among other things, that Vortex does not invent conflicts. Rather, Vortex alerts you to them so that you can resolve them. Those conflicts are also present in your games managed by NMM, but NMM does not make you aware of them. See this helpful article: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/File_Conflicts:_Nexus_Mod_Manager_vs_Vortex.

If you do not wish to pursue this study, then I recommend that you stay with NMM.

I completely agree with Augusta Calidia.

And do yourself a big favor : read as many threads as you can in this forum so you will learn a lot of stuff, probably more than you ever thought, because here we have people very knowledgeable ( not me by they way, so I am the less of all of the people trying to help others ) that are talking about things I've never heard in my life so I have been learning a lot from them.

Something that really called my attention from your post was this : """"not vortex game of mod managing """" ...... Vortex is not a game. If it was a typo, then, that is fine, but if you really thought that Vortex is a game, then you are completely ignorant about what Vortex is. And do not get offended because not one come to this life as a genius. We need to learn as we grow up. I do not know anything about Astrology for example, but the basic, so I am an ignorant in relation to that science, BUT, I can guarantee you that if for any reason I would like to learn about it, I will study it before trying to use it, talk about it or do anything related to it. It is on you !!

Hi and thank you for your somewhat encouraging response, I am fully aware of the purpose of the vortex mod manager that replaced the NNM.

My answer to your suggestions " I am not wanting to research and study a programme designed to manage mods for a game, so I can basically play a game with mods. Rather I wanted to use my free time to play a game with the benefit of a few mods. I think your both correct, basically, if I want to use a mod manager for my game I need to become an expert spend time educating myself about it and maybe one day become a mod manager game programmer. but unfortunately, it is not something I desire; even though I have a general computer programming background (computing is not my motivation).

Your suggestions are not an answer or point me to any kind of solution, I am not sure why you answered other than to suggest something of a misdirection for what I was asking support for.

If you both have an understanding of NNM and Vortex you would know their limitations and also be aware of the time they can suck out of your life; unless one enjoys playing with mod managers rather than a game; that is why I said playing vortex.

My main question which you both failed to address is that a clean start for my game needs all and every area of internal memory that both these programs have within them such as their .ini files and related log records stored within my windows machine operating system; these need to be removed. The limited knowledge I do have concerning these areas of hidden files and memory access points that most software has in our computers informs me that IF these files and memory points are not removed then when NNM and Vortex programmes are reinstalled; even though they have been deleted from my PC. They will seek out these old files and memory points and try to bring back the very issues repeat a process I am trying to avoid. So if you do not know how to clean my pc from these effects in order to reinstall a fresh start for my game, it might be nicer if you keep your ignorance to yourself.

I really was looking for the quickest solution or I can hammer my pc and hack it to destroy these files, but I do not want to do that, so essentially if some know exactly what hidden files and memory records concerning NNM and vortex have written on in my pc I can remove them first rather than hack my entire system. My approach to these things is like a hammer I want a much gentler approach. cheers to you for trying

that is some military grade trolling right there.

Oh you had those conflicts with NMM, the difference is, NMM doesn't tell you about them, vortex does.

However, after reading your response about "Memory Points" and Old Files staying in Memory, I would suggest you stick to using NMM, it will be much easier for you, because you're familiar with it.

HadToRegister is correct, there's no need to learn Vortex if you are happy with NMM. Furthermore, if you wish to remove a program from your computer completely, then there are three steps. First, uninstall the program properly either through Windows or the program's own uninstallation utility. Second, go in and delete any remaining folders the program added. If you're worried about hidden files, use the "Show Hidden Files" option in the Files drop down menu. Third, reboot/restart your computer. If you are concerned about any changes to your game files (there won't be any), then verify your game cache through Steam.

HadToRegister is also correct in that a mod manage does not cause mod conflicts. All a mod manage does is automate the process you'd use if installing the mod yourself. Vortex also adds a virtual installation feature so that nothing is written to the Data folder. Your game folders are always clean.

Nice response's. Thank you, NNM is unsupported now, so I am sticking with Vortex. So after performing a clean as mentioned by Jannifer. I began a playthrough and found when travelling by road from Sanctuary heading towards Diamond city or anywhere near it the game crashes.

Vortex has no conflicts with about 30 mods in it.

Any suggestions Please?

So, how about posting your load order instead of making us guess which mod could be causing the crash?
