"Missing Masters" Error

The file was last updated in July of this year, I'm sure that the entire first page of the mod comment section would be full of people having this same problem.

Again I will ask you

What is the Path you set in vortex for your DOWNLOAD folder, and what is the path you set in Vortex for your MOD STAGING FOLDER?

I've asked this several times and you won't answer me.
Because I suspect you have either your DOWNLOAD folder or your Mod Staging Folder set to the wrong thing, and it's mixing all of your mods for different games, together.

So far, I have only downloaded Fallout4 mods using Vortex. I lost my HDD and had to reinstall, so have been focusing on getting FO4 up and running smoothly and without any graphical errors before I even try Skyrim.

Using NMM, I went to the Nexus and clicked "Download using NMM" and then activated the mod, used LOOT to order everything and then just... played. This is needlessly complicated, from needing to manually download because Vortex won't just download directly to running into mods that worked fine when downloaded via NMM but won't work properly now.

Some of it may be due to mishandled pathing, but again, I never had to deal with that before, so all of this is confusing as hell.

It sounds to me like you've not configured Vortex to handle Nexus links, which is required if you want to use the "Mod Manager Download" button on NexusMods.

Given your frustrations, however, would it not be better for you to go back to NMM? It's still available and actively supported at the following link: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager/releases.

I just go to Nexus mod game page, click on download the mod I want and install / enable the mod in Vortex and … SURPRISE … I do not have to use LOOT because I have auto-sort ON in the Plugins tab so Vortex decide my load order automatically and then, play my game. If my mod is conflicting with another, Vortex will let me know so I fix that in the Mods section via rules.

Sorry, but if you keep comparing and you do not divorce from NMM so you can focus all your attention in Vortex, you will get confused. Vortex is much simpler than NMM and I worked with NMM for about 2 years so I perfectly know how to use it.

HadToRegister has asked you several times about your installation path for your mod staging and you have not answered him. If you do not help us, we would not be able to help you. Period.

i dont think this forum is designed for you to simply vent. it's here to ask for, and receive help.

i'm not understanding why you won't answer the questions that are put to you, by people trying to help you. if you come here, and ask for help and then don't respond when people are trying to help you, and don't follow advice you are given, all you are doing is wasting their time. why would you do that?

if you don't like vortex the solution is very simple, uninstall it and use nmm, it's still around and still supported, so you'll lose nothing.

I mentioned elsewhere that I answered the path question in a message with HadToRegister, so that will not show up here. I cannot tell you the path at this very moment as I am at work and unable to see what is on my computer at home.

Your point that this site is not for venting is valid. That is what it looks like I am doing, mainly because I am frustrated. I can, however, see that not answering that question is frustrating for anyone trying to help - and I apologize for that. I will post the pathing when I get home this evening so anyone can see what is going on.

To note - I did try to return to NMM per HTR's suggestion. Unfortunately, when I went to download a new mod (the baggy top - I picked it at random) from the Nexus, I clicked on the "Vortex" button to download and it opened Vortex even though I had told NMM to associate all files for download. HTR mentioned that I might have to turn that off and on again a few times to get NMM to recognize - but this did not happen.

I have, since, unloaded all files from both Vortex and NMM and will be deleting both of them this evening to try and see if re-installing Vortex will fix the issue. I can, at that time, post any pathing so you patient folks will be able to help me.

And no, that is not a dig. You guys are doing your best and I do appreciate it. My frustration obviously influenced my ability to communicate, and I apologize. I DO appreciate your efforts to assist me.

As of this time, I am fully committed to switching to Vortex. Just want to figure out how to make it work the way it should. With your help, I can and (again), I thank you for your time and patience.

On a side note, NMM showed the same issue with the Apachii's Hair mod - it said it required Skyrim despite the fact that it was for Fallout. I got the mod from the FO4 section on the Nexus, so this might be a mod issue to bring up with the creator (though it seems odd that, if it IS the mod, this isn't a major issue elsewhere, so I may just be screwed).

I do not have any other mods downloaded for any other game right now, so none of these programs should be confusing mods for other games (as there aren't any to confuse with).

I still insist that it's the way you have your directories set up, because the last time Apachi for Fallout 4 was updated was back in July, and if it was requiring Skyrim.esm, the whole Discussion page on that mod would be full of people reporting the issue.

So maybe you downloaded the Apachi hair for Skyrim by mistake.
