Horrible search engine and terrible forum structure.

Love Nexus. Love the people. Love the mods. Hate the technical side. Search engine is a disaster. I search for Frostfall in the mods and get everything but Frostfall. I find it in every language and find every tweak and add-on. Just not the original program. Most of what I search for, I can't find. I go to Google and find what I'm looking for in seconds.

Same problem with the forums. The categories don't make sense. Can't find the specific games. Can't find the mods forums for that game. Can't find MO2 forums. Have to leave the site, go and Google, and find a link that goes to a topic in the forums I'm looking for. Can't navigate to the specific forums the topic is posted in though. So I still can't get to where I need to go. Spend hours trying to find the categories I'm looking for under Forums. Still can't.

Maybe there is some work-around that is obvious to everyone but me. I'm the most technically clueless person on the planet.

I'd like to agree, in a way, not quite as harsh as Darklustre.

I've tried to search for multiple words, you know, "boolean".. Doesn't *seem* to work. Unless you hit a exact match. Sometimes I've had better luck finding mods here by googling or ddg'ing than actually searching on the forums here.

Tonight I've seen on the 4 forums dedicated to Skyrim SE modding, people looking for voice actors, people posting they are voice actors, etc. None of them saw each other cause of 3 or 4 overlapping forums.. Least it seems...

Other than that, I love this site. It's awesome. I would not go many other places to get a mod. I still love NMM. etc.!

:smile:

Edit: The fact that I saw this post, and it was not in the Skyrim SE forums that I thought I was in? Kinda proves the point.

The Nexus staff needs to figure out how to sort the Game forum by NAME, rather than Creation Date.

I don't know how many years it's been this way, but it looks really amateur that the Game Forums are just a complete flustercluck of random order, rather than organized by NAME.

It's been YEARS, and it's still this way.

I resort to hitting CTRL+F in my browser and typing in the name of the game so I can find the Game Forum I'm looking for because the Game forums are sorted by CREATION Date, and apparently nobody can figure out how to sort them by NAME.

if you're frustrated by the search engine, you can utilize google to search only the nexusmods site;

for example, if you put this in google, you may get what you're looking for;

skyrim frostfall site:nexusmods.com

or if your need to find a post on the forums you could do this;

"horrible-search-engine-and-terrible-forum-structure" site:forums.nexusmods.com

For the latter example, the top result is this thread.

Try it and see if it helps you with your predicament.

That's strange because when I typed 'Frostfall' into the search field, I got both the Skyrim and the Skyrim SE version, followed by a bunch of compatible mods.

If results are missing from your search it's because you're blocking tags that prevent that result from showing. The search tells you if your results are being filtered -- it's really not our fault if you are tag blocking and mods with those tags do not show.

As for the game forum list -- simply do not browse for game forums through the forum itself. Instead, go to the game you want on the Nexus site side then click "forum" at the top. It will take you to that game's forum. We're not going to change it on the forum end.
