I have absolutely zero confidence in TES 6.

I do not believe there will be a Creation Kit for TESVI/Fallout 5/Starfield, aside from authors in Creation Club who probably will use the official BGS Dev editor. No public release.

Oh crap...

I didn't even think of that.

They can technically say "We support modding", but only in a way that benefits them.

Now I'm worried.

Creation Club authors probably already get to use the official editor so they will not be affected by the release or lack of one for a public CK, other than that there probably won't be much if any community knowledge or help to draw from. Unless perhaps xEdit can be made a full replacement for CK, including a render view for cell editing, NPC editing(faces/etc). I prefer xEdit for a lot of stuff but I think quite a bit still must be done in the CK.

The official editor can probably do a lot more but due to NDA, they probably wouldn't be allowed to use it for anything to be released other than official projects through CC.

I'd be very surprised if there were no CK or equivalent editor. If they stop the free modding in favor of Creation Club, what they would actually be doing is drying up the talent pool they want to draw from for CC. They will need new blood in CC. whether because of people leaving or just running out of ideas, there will be turnover. I expect the CK will arrive late like always, and CC could have as much as a years head start on free modders, but I do believe they will release an editor for ES6.

Oh yeah that is true also. They could get by with the people they have now for Starfield. But likely for TES VI and even moreso for Fallout 5 it will be much harder to find new talent if there will not be a CK on any future games. They could contract out game developers who are unable to find work, though they likely would expect a lot more pay.

So long as beth is still using their version of the gamebryo (creation) engine, they will release the editor. It's in their best interest.

Do folks participating in CC, actually get a 'better' version of the CS? Or, do they use the same one the rest of us get??

Question remains though: Are we all going to be alive when they decide to even release the game? I fully expect little mention of TES6 in the upcoming E3, or just a tibit, before Todd starts talking about Starfield.

As for modding, I kind of don't care anymore. More and more actual devs have been modding the game, and this is no doubt going to be BGS's target audience in regards to how the company will present and manage modding. The CK will probably be more complicated than ever before as it'll be tailored towards those with software engineering experience. I mean, the first post nails it: we're essentially their Q&A team, while the devs modding are basically freelancers for them. This enables them(BGS) to slack in certain areas.

You said it better than me but I do agree with fftfan ..... as an Army veteran than I am, I learned to think as my enemy so I could anticipate his/her next move. If I was Bethesda, I will definitely "support modding" but only in the way that will benefit my own goals and business. The CC was introduced for several purposes and I do believe it will play a role about next TESVI modding permissions.

They could come up with something like : " if you want to mod it, do it, but your mod MUST be posted only in our website, we will pay you a fee but we will own it, so whoever would like to use that mod, would have to pay a fee to become a member of the CC and probably even be charged for the mod. " Not necessarily exactly as I think but again, I will be very surprise if they allow free modding in the way we have it now and I will recognize my mistake publicly by thinking otherwise and at the same time, I will be very happy.

Sounds very bad but I do not think that we will have free modding as we had with Skyrim and Fallout so I still playing those games but I am moving slowly away from them ( just in case ) and playing others games out there that do not require modding but they are even better than Beth games.

Beth would be stupid to eliminate free modding. Mods are what contribute the most to the longevity of their games. Folks still buy Morrowind...... and Oblivion...... (I think Daggerfall, and the older games are free these days.) Not to mention the hue and cry from the torch and pitchfork crowd would be heard far and wide...... It doesn't really cost them much, if anything.... to release the CS into the wild..... But, it sure buys them a lot of good will from their fans.....

We have the same issue with TES6 and Bethesda.

Its actually why we built our own elder scrolls game. (not yet released, will hit early access Q2 or Q3 perhaps.

The issue is the old team, the real ones who made the actual good content are not at Bethesda anymore.

Its quite literally a differing company. A company is people. And the people who made TES3-4-5 are not there now.

If anyone wants to see screenshots or details of OUR take on an elder scrolls game, let me know.

I can even send a few free steam keys your way. Again though, it is early access so guts and blood of the code are showing. Pop me a pm or something and I'll send you a key. if you want some animated giffs of the game let me know and ill fire a few in here.

Its early days for us, but it means its not just Bethesda's court anymore.

its actually the reason im on nexus mods. oo i remember i time when I was a modder of skyrim grabbing ENB's and things

now, its here to get an idea how to create a modding community for our own game. Weird feeling.

Essentially were here to learn to build from the ground up a strong modding community, into the game, in advance of game release.

That sounds pretty cool!
