Deleted54170User
I used to peek in on my threads when there is no desire to post a new post and realized it counted as a view. If I edit an old post, a spelling error is corrected or an Edit is necessary it's counted as a view! Now-a-days I copy my thread's post to Wordpad and untangle the words my mind splashes out in gobbledygook as well as I can then paste over the top of the post if I think it needs it. Then I keep my self from opening the thread. I stay the mouse arrow, keeping it away from clicking on the thread, as long as I can stand the pressure of waiting and wondering if anyone posts to it. That way I see how many views, at least, views I see increasing the view count that aren't mine. I wonder if it is possible to stop the view count just when a person views their own thread in the forum functions? Not the view counts of other people, just the times, say, I view or edit my thread's latest post. Make it so the owners visit isn't counted so there isn't a bunch of views extra that aren't from visitors?

Deleted54170User
Now there will be 43 views because I clicked on the thread to look in. My count of views I have caused adds up to about 8 now! Does the sense of having a bunch of views that aren't really because anyone else is viewing the thread cause cause the thread owner a false sense of fame? Or maybe the sight of thousands of views give other members a sense the thread owners thread is much better then their thread is?
Deleted54170User
And replies??? Oh man!!! Please! Somebody Please! Please overhaul this forums 'code' so the views and replies system makes it so people get only views and reply counts from other people. On one thread alone I replied to, or should I say, posted a new post in, it looks like I have a lot of people posting to it. 439 replies?! More like maybe 400 of my own posts I added to my looney news at eleven thread with more meandering gobbledygook, being counted of mine being counted as replies. It is a thread I started to give people some light hearted funny news which could be true if all the Archaeologists on Earth actually hide stuff from conspiracy theories. Yeah! Wrong! It is more likely that the artifacts that have been uncovered, are so extraordinary, even the Best Archaeologists have no clear idea of what they have. While the rest of the people on Earth, diggers, that found out about the Wondrous stuff must feel like a bunch of children who were there when a child got a new toy and the child who got it was still trying to find ways to entertain them self with it, much less share it with anyone else yet. YET! It still causes considerable upset because the rest of the children want to play with the toy too. Ah! Those days when a scientist was still chewing gum to keep their ears from becoming clogged paining them so much they lost their balance and fell off their high chair while pondering how to brew a Great cup of coffee before getting starting to do their real job. In that thread From Day Dreams of a Spaced Out old Man comes Looney News at Eleven only a few replies, maybe a dozen posts, were actually comments from other members. If I'm lucky! Among the 439 replies 20 might be someone else's post causing those 20 replies. Please! Please! Overhaul this forums 'code' so the views and replies system makes it so people get only views and reply counts from other people. And there you go! I have added another count to the replies, AND views to my own thread.

Lisnpuppy
Can they even make that differentiation?
Deleted54170User
Can they even make that differentiation? Good question. My BPU: Brains Processing Unit is... I'm thinking. XD I think the forum code could be set up to do it. My BPU is heating up. I think if I could set up a order/reorder switch so the first thread is the order, and the author clicking on it again would not be recognized as a reorder so it would not add another order to the counter box. It could differentiate as though it were an order for a product and the count of 1 or more box of the same set so the author could not trigger another view count when opened the thread to read replies or edit. My BPU is taking me away. Be Back ASAP.
Deleted54170User
The thread would be an order/advert. The counter for the number of orders the author can put in the box would be only 1 and no more, order number box locked with 1 view. The owner opens to thread to see if anyone has posted is not added to the number of views because the box with 1 is locked so no more reorders can occur. Visitors views would add to a counter that is open only to their avatar's code. Replies is already set so when a person posts a reply or the author posts a reply that is when it counts it. It's only the views number of counts that need a lock so repeated clicks don't count.Restricting the number of views counted when it's like someone tapping a key repeatedly... BPU losing focus. Arthmoor
The IPB software doesn't have a setting to stop you from incrementing your own thread view counter.
