TwilightBringer
What if it's to organize what mods are being used in Vortex persay? Since some mod managing programs still show past mods when switching their profiles, the easiest workaround, in my opinion, is to just get another account, then just disable all mods in one account and be able to switch back and forth between the modded Skyrim of the person's choice. This had nothing to do with ratings, chat or the Forums on Nexus or any other website at all. Furthermore, the problem of IP bans affecting everyone on that specific network, not just the rulebreaker. Most sites I've been to allow multiple accounts and kick the person without banning them if they spam, they can't return without an admin reviewing their case and there is always a warning. There is no ban on just breaking a rule once on the sites I've been to. It's when the offense is repeated within a week that the person is banned. I have not seen a lot of spammers on those sites for some reason. Also, I'm American I'm used to free speech so sorry if I have said anything remotely offensive in this, I am trying to be as respectful as I can. To be honest I'm really scared to say anything on Nexus just typing this gives me anxiety. Edited September 9, 2019 by TwilightBringer
Guest deleted34304850
Free speech doesn't even come into it. You have no entitlement here, there are rules you agree to when you sign up. You don't like the rules, you don't sign up. Your freedom of speech bullshine gets left at the door.

In Vortex you can achieve the same results you want by using the status filters available on the mods page. Then you can switch from one profile to another without seeing the other profile's "past" (disabled?) mods. It's quite simple to do this, and it doesn't require the rather hazardous workaround that you have proposed.
KZadBhat
You can also apply mod profiles within Vortex itself, which will automatically disable/enable the particular mod setup you need for certain types of play, including providing a dedicated save game list for that profile. Multiple Nexus profiles won't do this for you. The better question really does come down to whether the benefits of multiple profiles to users outweighs the benefits of restricting profiles to the community, and really there are no particular benefits to multiple profiles for users, except for those who want to troll or manipulate the site. And let's face it, most of the trolls aren't as entertaining as they think (or at all), and there come to be plenty of reasons this site does not want to get embroiled in things like vote manipulation. Don't forget, there are modders who have managed to turn their modding hobby into a job offer, and if someone should get hired based in part on how they manipulated voting and endorsing systems here, and it is discovered later, it can end up hurting Nexus's reputation among the gaming industry. Especially if it happens multiple times. At least being seen to do something to prevent it helps them.

JimmyRJump
Ban modbans. It's stupid and completely ludicrous. It's like movie directors banning you from seeing their films. Not done and says more about the people doing the banning than about the person(s) being banned. Mod authors deciding who can download their mods and who cannot is the biggest form of entitlement I can think of right now. If you want to be a dictator, go see which South American government you can overthrow.
jjb54
I found I was " banned " by a Mod Author and for the life of me, I could not figure out why???? So I wrote them and asked, " Why? As if you check my history with your many mods, you'll see I'm a fan. " It was quickly fixed as they could not figure out why I was banned either. We figured it was a mistake and all is good. Sometimes just a good attempt at dialog / communication can fix a lot. There was one which I was banned and it was at a time I was going through Soft Chemo and was " out of it ". I posted some " stuff " that I should not have and I apologized for it with some explanation ... and a bit of Humble Pie ..... and all was good then too. Arthmoor
Blocking has its uses and I have found that in most cases, it was entirely justified. Sometimes even resulting in the person lashing out and getting banned from the site as a whole. So no, it doesn't say anything about the mod author who blocks a person, since IMO the person generally has it coming already and is probably a hair's width from a full site ban anyway. There's more self-entitlement in the assumption that the jerks out there should be allowed to run amok than there ever will be with the mod authors who are making legitimate use of a site feature that's common on many sites. If you want to be a dictator, go see which South American government you can overthrow. You could just as easily apply this train of thought to the whole site itself. So... next move is down with Nexus Mods site bans? Also, mod authors can only ban someone if they comment on their mod page, not before. So generally there is evidence that admins can look at if you think you were wrongfully banned from a mod author's page.
