An Issue with Mod Counts Between Vortex and Wrye Bash

@ Zanderat: That 2019 version is the one I have also. What did you mean by "can use espify"? I'm not really too familiar with the software beyond making patches with it. I don't need to go into SSEEdit to do this?

@ HadToRegister: Do I need to be running auto-ghost? Apparently I'm not. I'm familiar with it, but I haven't used it in about 5 years.

No need to use SEEdit or WryeSmash, just Convert the ESP to LIGHT with Vortex.

No, Auto-Ghost in Wryesmash makes esps disappear to the Mod Manager, which is why I asked.

I'll have to make sure that I haven't got Ghost marked or anything like that, but I seem to remember years ago it was messing my files up adding a ghost extension and I really didn't know what that was doing to them. But thank you both. You've been immensely helpful.

OK, I think I may finally get it why the counts are so weird between Wrye Bash and Vortex.

You have so many slots in your game. Unless its a true ESL, it uses one of those slots even when marked as an espfe. I have 182 Active mods now, with 87 being Light. Of those 87, 15 are true ESL's. So 87-15=72. 72+182=254. That is what Wrye Bash is showing. The 254 slots + the 15 ESL's =269. Which I have.

I'm not sure what Wrye Bash is counting in the second number, ie 269/314, because 254+72 espfe's DO NOT equal 314, but the rest of it I'm happy with. At least it makes sense in my head.

So all I have to do is keep track of my true ESL count to figure out how many plugins I have. Not that difficult when filtering the names. I wish Vortex differentiated between true ESL's and espfe's so it was easier to keep tabs on my count but I can live with this if true.

If I'm wrong, please dash my illusions now.

OK, here's a Creative way to use Filtering...

Do this...(make sure the ENABLED filter is selected in the STATUS column)

In the PLUGINS tab, in the FLAG Filter Dropdown, select LIGHT, then, in the NAME Filter, type in ESL, in MY load order, when I do that I see "This table is filtered, showing 3/239 items"

NOW, clear that NAME filter, and type in ESP (with the LIGHT filter still selected), NOW, your list will show the "Light" esps, AKA ESPfes (they will also have Feather icons), now my list says "This table is filtered, showing 70/239 Items"

Now I know I have 3 ESLs, and 70 ESPfes, for a total of 73 "light" plugins

That's a good way to get the .espfe count. That's how I figured out how many ESL's I had, just needed to take it one step further. Thank you.

Still feeling my way around Vortex, but there seem to have been a number of improvements since the last time I tried it. Unfortunately, now I'm out of slots. So many mods, so little time. But at least my game is set up and ready to customize, so my wife won't complain as much about "how much time I'm wasting on a game". If only she knew.
