PrebenBonfiss
Hi AllI am currently in the process of finalizing my second mod. This mod has a number of NPC's. I want to use clothing and hair developed by other players for these NPC's (I see no point in having my NPC’s walking around in vanilla cloth the game i full of that).I am not in any way modifying any of these mods, simply using them. And therefore of course also listing these mods as a requirement under the description of my mod, giving them proper credit. I have messaged the developers of these mods that I plan to use, asking for permission, just to be sure that I am not violating any rights. But I get no response from them. So what to do? My questions is. Do I actually need acceptance? or is it enough to and their mod a as a requirement for my mod? Hope some one can help me clarify the rule :-)
HadToRegister
You need to ask permission if you're planning on using any part of someone else's mod in your own.Check the PERMISSIONS Section on their Description Page to see, sometimes modders are cool with people using their stuff without seeking permission, others don't want you using their stuff at all, and others would just like you to ask first. SKKmods
If you cant get permission to re-distribute their mod content, you could make their mods external masters and use the assets. Then just document the pre-requisites: you must install x y z before installing this mod type of thing.
DieFeM
I am not in any way modifying any of these mods, simply using them.If you don't need to redistribute any part of these mods, and your mod only needs them to be installed, you don't need permission for that. You would need permission if your mod included assets from such mods or your mod modifies them on any way. PrebenBonfiss
Hi AllThanks for all your comments. I have below tried to clarify what I have done.I have in CK made their mod external masters, so they are must be installed in order for my mod to work. An I have listed them a requirement.I have in CK made a number of Outfits using the cloth from the external master mod. So my NPC is working around in cloth made from that mod.But a haven't changed the anything in the cloth objects (like the NIF or texture files and i have checked in FO4Edit that my mod is not in any way changing their mods)Does that mean that I have included assets from their mods? Yulliah
Sounds like you are not using any of their assets to your mod, only that your mod is dependent on theirs
