why?

<> i don't use forums so i don't know how to send an img lmao but sheesh guys, i can't even install mods easily, why did nmm had to change?

this design is simply awful unlike any other program i've ever dared myself to instal and the informations are very, very confusing. continuing, with every mod installation it tells me that vortex needs to access the folder in which the mods are gonna be installed but it doesn't have the permission to, followed by "if your account has admin rights vortex can ttry to unlock the files for you" or something like that + some random things that - at least for a common user - don't mean anything useful. i've searched for other peoples' complaints and it didn't give me any good answers to solve the issue.

directly saying > i've downloaded vortex, downloaded some mods and clicked to install, after that it started popping up these annoying windows saying that vortex needs permissions. whichever option i select makes it pop another ones for other mods/plugins/whatever, until they're over. when i install other mods i've gotta repeat all these steps again until it's out of windows to close and then appears other window saying "saving manifest failed", but as it happens with every mod installation i guess it won't be useful in here

++++++++++++ > deploying is weird and fails all the time

Go to "Settings" and turn off the Deploy mods on install feature. Install and enable all of your mods, solve the conflicts (you know if the conflicts are solved if there are green thunderbolts instead of red), then hit "Deploy Mods".

It brings up that notification as a safety feature to make sure that you want to install the mod on another drive (which is kind of a good thing in that you know that Vortex isn't doing anything sneaky, but also bad because of it's frequency, hence the disabling of that setting option for now).

As for not installing mods easily, I disagree. I find it just as easy as the other mod managers out there (used NMM, MO, and MO2), just with certain bonus features or limitations. Although, that could be because I play around with the mod manager to learn as much as possible before actually using it.

What's your deployment setting set to? Because I don't recall it bring up the notifications with "hard-links".

As for deployment failing all the time, what's the game directory path, Mod Staging path (can be found in Settings -> Mod Staging), and the deployment set to?

Install your games and folders ANYWHERE except Program Files (x86), windows by default protects that particular folder to the point of fanaticism.

Also, do you happen to be running Vortex as an Administrator?

Because if you are, DON'T.

The only time Vortex should be asking for permission to deploy is if you're using Symlinks
