HadToRegister
I Update: It has EVERYTHING to do with how Vortex manages profiles and the games save-states. I made a simple change, moved a copy to desktop. Loaded the profile it was on, worked fine. Swapped profiles, it asked me if I wanted to use the new file, clicked yes. Loaded the game, it reverted the file to the old version on the loaded profile. So it is over-writing the changed file, with the version on the loaded profile, even though its not actually new. Its very very odd. It shouldnt be over-writing with a past-dated file, and it shouldnt be housing multiple file copies between profiles... There are a lot of things that can go wrong there and losing work isnt even the worst of it, Devs need to take alook into that. To continue, told it NOT to update, didnt matter. Still reverted to the older file version.(CAPS used for emphasis BTW) Ok so 1. changed file in one profile, the "Use newer file" worked2. change profiles, the "use newer file" restored the OLD file instead Did you then switch BACK to the other profile and check if the changes were still in the newer profile, or did Vortex restore the OLD one for BOTH profiles? I did change back to the previous profile, and it had restored the OLD file. =/ OK, that definitely should be reported as a bug. Although..... I believe "Use Newer" was added in the last one or two updates. Is the SAVE CHANGES option still there? Because I'm thinking THIS might be what's going on 1. Use Newer - Use Newer file in this profile, however, changes aren't written to the disk2. Revert - Changes are reverted to previous version before editing/changing files3. Save changes - files are actually physically written to the disk I hope this is not the case, we really need an official explanation for this one Also, thanks for being a trooper and experimenting, also, sorry if I came off as combative or whatever, I wasn't really understanding you at the beginning. Im not entirely sure, but I do know that before I updated, the "Use Newer" wasnt there. Fact of the matter, is that Vortex shouldnt be caching or overwriting the files period, for any reason. Thats just a whole world of trouble. I understand wanting to "automate" some things like integrating loot to sort load order and such, but when it comes to files and how picky games are, I would rather most of that stuff be manual... "Save Changes" is there, but its the "Submit" button for when it asks if you want to Use Newer File.
Zanderat
Is it mentioned anywhere in this thread what version of Vortex is causing the problem? Maybe I missed it.
