The moment I started playing a sniper in F3, I wanted a "Bozar" like this. Interestingly, the version in Fallout 2 is pretty odd... it's a common (but not unanimous) view that there was some sort of mix-up, and that it was supposed to be a 14mm 'big gun' sniper rifle (but ended up as a full auto 'small gun' firing .223 rounds!). If I had my way, I'd make THIS a 'big gun' skill weapon, with new .50cal (or 14mm) ammo... heck, I'd much rather see this in the over-sized hands of Super Mutants than piddly Hunting Rifles!!!

I'll happily do any work I can getting this weapon into the game! I have zero modeling/texturing skills, but I've had good success adding new weapons, items, ammo, etc. into the game... so if you get a working model but need that done, let me know! I'd be happy to not just make my 'dream' Bozar mod with it, but an "our world" Barratt realism one (for those who love the real gun) too.

 I never thought of making the barrett a big gun. Wow, that makes ALOT of sence to do that...that would be awesome! BUT i must disagree with the super mutants using it. A gun of this magnitude needs to be unique. Im not thinking in the terms of undergoing a quest to get a specially named variant of the barret. Im thinking stash it in one of the armouries, behind the locked doors, probably the US coastguard armory, on its own table. There should be just 1 copy of this gun in the game to add to its uniqueness. And before you whine "But i cant repair it if theres one copy!" There is a mod out there that lets you repair any gun with scrap metal and wrenches. So that should take care of keeping it in good shape.

As for its ammo, yes it needs its own Ammo, the .50 BMG round. New Ammo types have already been implemented into the game (think the desert eagles, AMAZING mod btw.) The ammo should be rare, but not inaccessible.

And as ive said before, It would need a superior Zoom capability then the standard sniper rifle, again ill say that the standard sniper rifles zoom is a joke.

At the moment it is very possible one will be in the works, but like i said above, we dont know for sure, just stay tuned.

Next to the rifle in the Armoury you should put the supply of unique ammunition (.50BMG) as well as a few loose rounds to show just how massive they are. :D

Ooooh. Would be so cool to make a little device there that you can trade scrap metal to and it melts them down to make bullets so you can re-use the old casings, giving you the ability to acquire more ammunition. :D (edit) But no more than you had previously. Perhaps, like nuka cola, every time you fire a round it adds a shell casing to your inventory. Then when you go back to the device you have to trade it 2 Shell casings + 2 scrap metals to give you 2 new rounds (arbitrary numbers there.)

Perhaps you can acquire the device like you acquire the workshop for your house and just having it in your inventory (House: BMG Bullet Press) adds it to your house or adds a functionality to your work bench. :)

Great idea with the box of ammo next to the gun. I like that.

As for your 2nd and 3rd paragraphs, that too is an amazing idea, but that would have to be its own seperate thing so you can use it for any projectile ammo type, and might require a construction set.

Thank you ^.^

Regarding the necessity for the CS:

Perhaps, but also perhaps not. Someone has already modded the workbench to allow you to create regular weaponry. (Last I checked he only had the spiked knuckles going. I think his recipe was brass knuckles, superglue and... shoot I've forgotten.) So perhaps having a particular item in your inventory (like the House: Workbench) could replace the old workbench with a new one that has a bullet press on it.

If nothing else, that is. Personally I would prefer an entirely new freestanding machine. ^.^ (I hope the CS comes out sooner than later to make stuff like that easier/possible)

The only reason I mentioned Super Mutants was that it bugs me how MANY of them have rifles that are obviously too small for their hands... in the previous Fallout games, they were (naturally) limited to "big guns" only.

That said, I do really agree that it would be better to keep this gun rare and special. I don't like the lack of realism I feel with "one only" guns unless they are unique customized variants, but I DO think a gun like this should be VERY limited (one or two places only!). I like the armoury idea for it's location!

The more I think about it, the more I'd like it to be a "big gun" (even though I've usually specialized in small guns throughout my Fallout gaming), since, IMO:

A) It's a huge, heavy weapon deserving of the classification, and taking a good strength to fire (especially without a bipod or anything!).

B) I believe F3 is a bit unbalanced when it comes to Big Guns and Energy Weapons... even the manual says basically to dump everything into Small Guns and use the others as "secondary" combat skills. Making this a Big Gun would give Big Gun specialists the choice to play heavy snipers, not just machinegunners or specialised weapon (flamer, missile launcher) fighters.

I also agree it needs a good scope... it should have the "best" range of any bullet weapon, IMO.

As for the comments here about bullet making... I've said in other topics that I'd LOVE to see more "post apocalypse survival" themed mods for F3, and the ability to reload your own bullets (or yes, even cast your own!) would be really cool. I agree it would be good as a new stand-alone "buyable item" for your house (measn you have to go home to use it, rather than carrying around a portable device... too easy!).

I never suggested it be portable, I just suggested that it go into your inventory like the workbench does. I suppose I should have said the deed for it goes into your inventory, but it's not really a deed. In fact I don't like having to have the workbench in my inventory and I would dump it into a locker if it wouldn't keep me from also having the workbench in my tenpenny tower suite. If I leave the item in either of the two homes, it seems to disappear from the other.

Agreed, the scope on the sniper rifles in game is laughable, as is the range. I was on the steps to the Lincoln Memorial trying to snipe mercs standing near end of the reflecting pool and even though I had his chest absolutely bullseyed, the bullet was either dropping or sailing over his shoulder. The zoom on the sniper scopes are nowhere near what they should be.
