Where's YOUR homebase?

I don't do settlements, but the two safe houses I prefer in most games are pretty much linked by water.

Hangman's Alley (Charles is just a stones throw away) and Taffington Boathouse. From those two locations most of the map can be reached relatively easy. Need to get from one to the other with little to no fuss?, Aquaboy/girl for the win.

Plus, you get to hear Cait complain about getting her boots wet, or flirt about trying to get her into the bath.

I like Taffington. It's small, and the floorplan kinda stinks. Don't like those dead brahmin outside that you can't get rid of in the vanilla game, and there's the dead body in the bathroom. But I really like having the dock, and the boathouse. The boathouse is especially good for setting up the workbenches in. Plus, it kinda makes sense that there's the giant mosquitoes, since they lay their eggs in water. That and I like dumping them in the water and watching the current carry their corpses away.

Unless one gets stuck in floor. That is always a pain. Tho, also humorous.

I've had bad experiences with Hangmans. My first really, really big settlement attack was at hangmans. Got attacked by a buttload of synths. After we killed off all the synths, all my guards started wandering, and set out to kill any and all reds that were in range. Then went even further out. then even further out. and then even even further out. I spent an hour just trying to keep my guards alive because they kept finding new stuff to kill!

And the whole time, I'm ranting because their stealing my spawns!

I tend to move around a lot, so where I decide to post up for a bit can depend on my mood, or general condition of my spleen. Early game, though, I set up the Red Rocket just outside Sanctuary so's I don't have to listen to Garvey's incessant B.S. about another settlement needs, etc and Marcy Long's continual griping (Best time ever in game? Being able to send the pair of 'em off to a prison in the Glowing Sea, Courtesy of the OAR mods happy lil' teleport gun- but I digress...) Later, it's Hangman's Alley, even more so after finding Battlebrother's 'Hangman's House' mod( https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/43261 ) as it saves resources for the settlement due to being in a different cell. In Far Harbor it's usually Dalton's Farm as the knoll right above the workshop can be very heavily fortified; Nothing gets even remotely close to my front door. In Nukaworld it's usually the Red Rocket.

Never did much with Home Plate- until I found the re-release of the Aloot mod for it ( https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/44101 ); It's just too beautifully crafted not to use it, and the fact that you can set it up as a mini settlement is cool- that, and it's a great place to park Nick and Piper when you've moved on from them. Cait, too.

There's more, too- I'm one of the ones who likes the building system and with the add ins from various mods- and a few neat tricks courtesy of " The Skooled Zone"- I can spend hours building, except when I run out of mats, lol

I used to keep RRTS as a place just for myself. Then I used RRTS to park all followers, except Dogmeat who's sent to Sanctuary immediately. Then I stopped caring about a 'home' base and use Sanctuary as the place/workshop I offload all my junk.

I use too many settlements to be able to make a choice as to where I call home. For the lone wanderer, Sanctuary makes the most sense. But in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, there's no real home for her (I always play with a female character).

At one point I had 104 settlements in my game. In combination with a mod that allows up to 500 settlers per settlement, there's no time to relax or even do sidequests as you constantly are doing the rounds to keep everything in order everywhere.

I have no real homebase, but I am very often in Sanctuary, Somerville Place and Spectacle Island. I like those settlements the most I think, even there are also many other great places in the game imo.

Edit: Not really a settlement, but because it got already mentioned: Home plate is my bat cave :D. There is all the important stuff I have collected in the game and everything I need. A lot of my settlements have also crafting stations and so on, but not in this density.

My goto base is RR-Truck Stop just outside of Sanctuary. I do not set up a tower as it's " my space " .... by invite only.

Good luck in getting by my security measures ... good luck.

1. The Red Rocket outside Diamond City as it is a great homebase, good to secure and near DC and Vault 81

2. Croup Manor as it is far away from all the troubles (But needs to have the spawn point at the Bar removed)

3. Vault 81 (When modded as a real player home) as it is secure, you've got clean water and get rich by selling Hank the tools

Everything in Goodneighbor

If I need time to be on my own I go to my 'Condo Home'. It is also the place where I store all my stuff.

My most favorite companions live in the 'Eternal Night Home', also in Goodneighbor.

And because I am the owner of Hotel/Casino Rexford I send my settlers there to live in luxury.

I already own the Goodneighbor Old State House, but did not have the time yet to make it a home. It 's my next project.

StormWolf01: Safe House <> Settlement. There is no way in bloody hell I'd have settlers at a safe house - settlers just invite raids.

Settlers are dumb, have big mouths, make a lot of noise and draw too much unwanted attention.

I don't do the settlement micro-management meta-game - and most certainly would never do it even if I did in Survival - since there is no fast travel.

Other than the two I listed (without mods):

RRTS (easily the most defensible location): Problem with this is you have to go a LOOOOOONG way out of your way to get to whatever supplies you've squirreled there - and a LOOOOOOONG way back to wherever you intended to go next - because nothing happens in RRTS area to ever bring you back once you leave it. It's why I've never settled Sanctuary, there is no point in settling there.

Egret Tours Marina: This one has potential, and if I ever use more than two this one is on the short list - since it has relatively quick access to the Glowing Sea - and the South central part of the map.

Nordhagen Beach: Meets the literal definition of a safe house location - nobody in their right mind would think of going there.
