These commands aren't stable and can crash the game.

 

UnlockMedal - unlocks all medals and awards one of each type.

UnlockMedal [number 1-5] - unlocks only specified type.

  • 1 - Urban Combat Badge (max 4)
  • 2 - Defender's Meda (max 3)
  • 3 - International Service Cross (max 2)
  • 4 - Council Medal of Honor (max 2)
  • 5 - Star of Terra (max 1)

AwardMedal - awards one of each type until maximum is reached, if are medals unlocked.

AwardMedal [number 1-5] - awards only specified type until machimum is reached, if a medal is unlocked.

I've been a little lazy tonight and made myself Debux.txt file containing some console commands. Edited line in DefaultInput.ini within XComGame/Config, section [XComGame.XComTacticalInput].

 

Normally it is .Bindings=(Name="F9", Command="F9_Key_Press | onrelease F9_Key_Release", bPrimaryBinding=True)

Changed to .Bindings=(Name="F9", Command="exec Debug.txt", bPrimaryBinding=True)

Or to .Bindings=(Name="F9", Command="exec Debug.txt", Alt=True) to avoid accidental hit.

 

It was cool and then I realized, it is working without enabled Developer's Console! Another con is, you can edit the txt file on the fly without restarting the game. Place the txt file into Binaries folder.

 

Some commands:

AIDebugModifiers // Shows unit information including action que
ListLoadedPackages // Outputs a list of loaded packages - dumps into the log
Obj Classes // Displays a list of all loaded classes - dumps into the log
Obj List Class= // Displays a list of objects of a class, from a package, or inside a package - dumps into the log. Tried with =Const
Pause
RestartLevel // Restarts a level
Showlog // Activates log
ShowPlayerStates // Shows player states
SwapTeamsOnNearestUnit // Place mouse cursor close to a unit, you want to change team of
TeleportToCursor // Teleports active unit to a cursor
ToggleFOW // Toggles fog of war on/off
ToggleUnitFlags // Toggles HP and cover flags on unit on/off

Here is a list of Unreal Engine 3 Console Commands if you want to play. Another list is in Unlocked some modding helpers thread containing commands from console autocomplete and XComGame.upk. Not all commands work.

 

Edit: Ordered the list alphabetically. Added usage comment to SwapTeamsOnNearestUnit and added RestartLevel command.

Given as this is built-in functionality of the game, and simple text files, it should. If you are having problems getting it to work, recheck the wiki article and report back here with details of what you trying to do (in spoilers please) and we will see if we can help you.

it doesnt seem to work for me when i press Alt + F9. I've changed the screen so that it would update, but nothing. does this have someting to do with steam or?

does this work on Mac version?

Given as this is built-in functionality of the game, and simple text files, it should. If you are having problems getting it to work, recheck the wiki article and report back here with details of what you trying to do (in spoilers please) and we will see if we can help you.

I try this with my Mac, (Steam) it does not work.

The files i found was called XComInput.ini in Feral Interactive > XCOM Enemy Unknown > Maclnit

 

all the Bindings does not have "." in front, so I did not add the "."

I put

Bindings=(Name="F9", Command="exec Strategy.txt, Alt=Ture)

And create a Strategy.txt file in Maclnit folder (same folder as the XCominput.ini

The Strategy.txt file contents

GiveResource Money 1000

GiveResource Engineers 10

GiveResource Scientists 10

 

in the base overview screen, i press alt+F9, nothing happened.

 

so I remove the exec in front of the Strategy.txt - it doesn't work

so I create a Binaries folder and put the Strategy.txt in it. - it doesn't work

I remove the .txt in the file name, it does not work.

 

anyone knows what should i do to make this work?

 

maybe exec does not work in Mac, i should put some other command?

The last time I had dealings with a Mac was over 20 years ago, but as I recall filenames were case sensitive, but did not require extensions (they were just another part of the filename with no special meaning). However, both my memory and the information are long out of date and may not pertain to your Mac OS version (which is what, in case it matters to someone more current in the OS?)

 

One thing that is undoubtedly true (but may simply be a typo) is that "Alt=Ture" is not a valid statement. Also, you have an 'unmatched quotation marks' condition in that you need a closing quote for the ' Command="exec Strategy.txt" ' statement. Such minor errors can result in "it just doesn't work". Which is part of the reason why it is always best to paste the bindings text into spoiler tags here, so we can spot typos that actually exist rather than merely transcription errors.

 

Finally, you say you are modding the 'XComInput.ini' file. You should be modding the 'DefaultInput.ini' file. See the recent 'Plaintext Files' addition to the 'Basic Guide to installing mods' wiki article which covers the differences.

do i need to hex edit some file before the game run from the Defaultxxx.ini files?

I download a hex editor but it cannot open the XCOM execution file on my Mac.

 

and i change some numbers in the DefaultGameCore.ini file, it does not make any changes.

 

do i need to do something else?

Only three config files are stored in the Resource Cache (on PC, I can't say about OS X), and DefaultInput.ini is not one of them.

 

The three are:

1) DefaultGameCore.ini

2) DefaultMPGame.ini

3) DefaultLoadouts.ini

 

All others should be loading from the loose files in /XComGame/config/ with no alterations.

I don't have Mac, so it's up to you to find out, how to make it work :smile:

 

First you can check, if commands are working at all.

// change
.Bindings=(Name="F9", Command="exec Strategy.txt", Alt=True)

// to
.Bindings=(Name="F9", Command="GiveResource Money 1000")

Start the game, go to the base view and press F9. You should have +1000 money after going to the research (or elsewhere) and back. If you were given thousand bucks, commands are working.

 

You can chain commands like bellow, but disadvantage is they cannot be changed, while the game is running.

.Bindings=(Name="F9", Command="GiveResource Money 1000 | GiveResource Engineers 10 | GiveResource Scientists 10")

Next it should be good to know, where to put text file with commands. I am guessing it may fit into XCOMData/Binaries folder.
