GlaciusCool
https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica/mods/85 This mod literally only installs a json and a png file into another mod directory ( https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica/mods/12 ) It's the New Biome map mod for the Subnautica map mod However, the png file is never loaded by Subnautica because the game can't load .symlinked png files apparently, at least not that one. I have to manually put the png file into the mod directory after every time I load Vortex because no matter what option I choose on the conflict popup, it always replaces it with the symlink version... Can I get an option to simply tell Vortex to leave things alone instead of the, what, 8 options that are on that dialog box? I've tried every option and they all replace the one I put there, the real file, and put in the shortcut symlink. Image attached of the screen, which option do I pick to tell Vortex to F-off? Pickysaurus
For that prompt, you can just chose "user newer file". I strongly recommend moving your mod staging folder to the same HDD as the game, this will allow you to use hardlinks, which are far more compatible than symlinks. HadToRegister
Note: When you move your Mod Staging folder, USE VORTEX TO MOVE IT!Do NOT make the mistake of moving the mod staging folder using Windows Explorer and expecting Vortex to know about it. GlaciusCool
Yeah, that's not an option to move the staging folder for vortex, I have too many mods for too many games to do that and still have room for the games. As for the option to use newer file, they both have exactly the same timestamp, I do that and it symlinks it anyway so I have to manually copy it over every time, that's why I'm posting it here since there isn't a bugs forum. The other options result in the same thing. Hitting the cancel button at the bottom doesn't work either and I'm not sure if that cancels just that single operation or the entire deployment operation. Tannin42
You move the staging folder for each game individually so we're just talking about moving the staging folder for subnautica to the drive where your subnautica is installed. And if you were installing mods manually you'd need that space on that drive anyway. The only way to not use up the space for the mods on the drive holding the game is symlinks and if the game doesn't support symlinks you don't really have any other choice.
