Should I switch to MO2?

I am in the processing of getting a new gaming pc. I have previously used Nexus Mod Manager. Since I'm going to have to redownload all of my mods anyways. I'm thinking of switching to Mod Organizer. I was just looking for opinions and how difficult/easy it is to use. I have tried Vortex but didn't care for it. Thanks for any help.

NMM is at least still supported. I don't think MO2 is anymore. (as the guy that wrote is now working for nexus, and writing vortex.......)

I dunno about Fallout 4, but for Skyrim SE it is no longer possible to download mods with NMM from the direct links as it does not have acces to the new API. For Skyrim I am using MO2 and for Fallout 4 Vortex. I was not very happy with it at first, but once you get use to it it's actualy quite ok.

If I was installing a new PC, I think I'dd choose MO2 because if you are not premium, vortex is capped for downloads, so if you have loads of mods to install it could take some time.

I am actualy re-installing all of Fallout 4 mods and using Vortex, so I've gone premium for a month.

What version of NMM were you running? Things changed around version 63 or so, with the API, so, older versions won't log in. Newer versions should work just fine. I've never had any issues.... and I use NMM for both Skyrim, and Fallout 4.

If anybody should be using nexus mod manager version 71.2 for latest feature include ESL, and mod sorting with loot and so on. Its a great and powerful tool to store 4000 mods and then some, takes two minutes to load lol.

Mod Organizer 2 is still supported and received a nice upgrade just a month or so ago.

 

MO2 is stable and Vortex is still an Open Source for people with coding skills playing with it to make it better. Unless you're into coding and or want to keep alive the familiar NMM you're comfort with, MO2 is your best best.

 

I endorsed Mod Organizer 2.

In short: NO. Use NMM. Far less hassle than with MO2 or the dreadful Vortex. The latter is just MO2 with more bling. Click the link in my sig to get the latest version of Nexus Mod Manager.

I'm not saying MO2 is 'bad' (I never used it) but NMM is just way more simple and doesn't have such a steep learning curve.

...after having read half a dictionary on how to go about things. With NMM you don't have that hassle. Install, set the proper paths for games and where you want to download the mods to, and wham, you're off. Installing mods through NMM is way more simple and easy than with MO2.

 

You should always start with the easiest method. You can always go complicated later.

i use mo 1.311 and mo2 for bethesda games. no porblems at all since 2015. the virtual file system is what is fascinating and it works like a charm. having no risk while trying new mods - that was what i needed and mo and also mo2 never disappointed even with 900+ mods installed. it is used by many people, still maintained and up to date.

if modding is not as important and you do not need a simple way do deactivate/delete mods for testing or an easy way to find faulty mods other solutions will be probably also usable or offer even more comfort. if you plan to use your manager also with other games probably vortex is the better and more future proof solution but I've never needed/tried it so far. nmm seems to me no option for modders because it is not supported anymore and it can not handle mod installation and deinstallattion without the risk of destabilizing your setup. in my opinion a no go for a modern mod manager and probably one of the reasons nexusmods decided to hire the mo developer tannin for vortex and to drop nmm.
