Pellape
It is not only the CSE that has birthday today as my Library was born this day as well. GRATS Library... Now comes the hard work, to decorate this vast space... And create a complete new shelf, not only for books as it must also fit the cards This roof is only temporary, as I will use the roof added to the bedrooms, just copy and rescale the texture UV and maybe flat it out some maybe... It all depends. So I will build up this room in Blender as well, a complete copy and that will take much longer time then it took to add these 24 sections in CSE for sure. I bet I will spend 3-5 days in Blender now to start with, combined with some game play of course. 4 entrances will be added, 1 to the hallway, 1 to our private bedroom, 1 to the card collector room and 1 to the next section of the library, that will be the same sizes as this one. 4? Damn I forgot the Hrota Cave, so 5 entrances like a bloody hub. The other library section will have connections to the new display rooms. Pellape
Yes, I do have apicture in my mind how it will turn out. This area will be the public area for the Library. where we meet the Librarian and it will have a reading section divided by screens where we can let the companions to go to for some reading as I will make a special package for it. I added this room to the map to see how well it fits, specially relative to the Hrota Cave and I think this will do or I build a tunnel section to fill the small gap, which is almost exactly one section wide. Lets see how I do it. The Sorter SolvedIt is good to sit here and write as then I also solve problems for sure, which I did yesterday. I moved all resources from the homemade chest out at the Workshop (The south building at the map) to the chests you see in the video, which was empty until now. The sorter works much better now than it did when I used that chest in the workshop. I do not need to remove and add chests any longer as it was that chest itself that was the problem. The database is growing as well. It has 1630 items in it now. The workshop is not part of the Hobbit Home as that is a placeable building from MOO and it was also a bloody hell to get it to the right spot as well I can tell you. :D I must add a building to claim that spot for the player on the first place as only then I could add a sawing station which you see slightly between the workshop and that south rock. Pellape
Here you can see how I cheat. Well honestly, this is the way they do add inner ceilings in modern offices... This is the last time we will see the original ceiling I guess as I will add a collision at the inner ceiling tomorrow, which makes it impossible for the camera to get there and that is the purpose of collisions at ceilings, to keep the camera inside the room and right space. So if we lower our view, we suddenly see the new ceiling. What I will do tomorrow is adding the panels and the lists. The library is not so different than the bedrooms except for the size and scale but I do like this look anyway. I was first thinking of adding more pillars and stuff, but the walls are better used for other things and I have not made up my mind yet what to add at the walls but maybe an achievement system if I now will be able to make cool graphics for it that is and maybe I just end up with more paintings? Lets see... I have to go back in this thread to read what I had in mind some months back and see if images pop up in my mind or not. The entrance to the library do look a bit odd but blaim the previous owner, not me... Edited March 3, 2021 by Pellape
Pellape
I had to move the entrance to the right as otherwise I could not fit a counter for the librarian as it needs to be on this side as the entrance to our private bedroom will be on the other side and I also finished the main room with panels and lists. So the big question now is. What race and gender should the librarian be? I do have 2 males and 3 females in the staff and my first thought was to make a High Elf female librarian but to keep the gender balance, I should make it male but which race is most suitable? I mean we do an Orc that sell books in Leyawin after all. The male staff are a Breton and High Elf so maybe an Imperial male librarian to spread out gender and races? Pellape
I have 3 things to add Map 5As I moved the entrance, the whole room got closer the the Hrota Cave by Auto. Reading sectionHow boring does this section look like? Well it is meant to look boring as this is a room for silence and strict reading. No talking allowed, well not loud at least. I will also add long boring carpets in to this room, 2 rows of carpets. What about books? There is not a single book in this picture. Well you are observant as there will be no books. They where stolen in a burglary or break-in. You have to find the books. I should retexture those tables really to fit the dividers better. ShelfsFirst I planned to male the shelf in one static mesh but when I woke up from a nap, I thought, why? If I make one single shelf and a frame, I can easy move each shelf up and down well in any direction but that makes no sense as up and down will be enough. i bet all shelves will end up at the same height but it will at least feel more flexible and less static. So I will fire of Blender now and see what I can make. Edited March 4, 2021 by Pellape
Pellape
A carpet makes a big difference really and now I added new tables as well, well new? Retextured ones, to fit the theme better.
Pellape
Finally, a shelf to put the books at. The design do look modern but it is 60-70 years old as I used to have a similar shelf in my room as a kid during the 70's and it was old already then. It did had a cabinet in the lower part and 2 shelves at the top, but never mind, it is the same design. The textures are the same as on the dividers and all other furniture's. I bet 16-20 books can be stored at a single shelf, which will cause a lot of lag as I do regret that I made the room so big now but I bet I can add the shelves at this wall and other stuff on the other side of the reading section. I will not store all books in this room anyway but I might make the other Library sections smaller to prevent lag. Now comes the hard part, well first I need to add collisions to the shelves as I have not done it yet, well only the top shelf so far. I will also add collisions over the books in case they feel like jumping of them and also scripts that puts the books back in place in case they pop off anyway. The collisions I will add over the books will also be activators which will give you an interface to loan a book and also to return the books and that script will only have an OnActivate block that will call a quest script and read all books from a database in it and that quest will control everything that deals with these books inside the library.
