Where do we go if/when this site goes down?

Well, this is quite a morbid topic... Nexus Mods turns 20 in 2021 and we're not planning on going anywhere soon.

As it stands we're one of the longest lived modding sites around and (I believe) we're one of few serious modding sites that's independent ("for the community, by the community").

As others have pointed out, we pay the bills through a mix of advertising revenue and Premium memberships. Although with the prevalence of adblockers, Premium memberships are becoming more important.

We are currently able to cover all the running costs of the site and we're even able to give a substantial sum of money to the mod authors who really are the lifeblood of the community: https://www.nexusmods.com/about/donation-points/ - We've paid out over half a million dollars through the rewards program and have been able to almost triple how much we put into the system each month. So, as you can see, we do what we can to reinvest in the community. :)

Ah ok!

I guess I just needed somebody saying "don't worry, everything is fine".

Sometimes i jsut worry about important things in my life beeing "taken away" and there beeing nothing I can do about it ...

But in this case, I can do something: Financially support this site!

Is there any anonymous, non-traceable way to donate money to this site?

Prepaid credit cards work, instead of donating why not buy a premium subscription? you'll get something out of it as well.

if you are worried try upgrading to premium, or just supporter. if everyone got supporter the site would no longer need ads and could go for years without running into problems. Seriously 20 million users each donating 2 dollars = 40 million dollars! if everyone got lifetime premium for ($56?) equals 1.12 billion dollars. Robbin could go buy a yacht, remove the ads, buy a second yacht for the pool in his first yacht, get some tacos, by one coffee from Starbucks and still have enough money to keep the site running until he died.

Ok, I might think about getting a "premium account" ...

Not that it will be of much use, my download speed is 1MB/s at best ...

(Better to have "bad" internet then no internet, right?)

But it supports the site and that is a good thing ...

Thanks to everybody for comforting me about the (relatively) "secured" future of this awsome place!
