Been years since I have modded a game, having trouble with oblivion

Hello! Long time gamer, on again off again PC gamer. Recently had the urge to go back and replay Oblivion, wanted to try playing with some mods. Downloaded Vortex and with it installed the following.

- Unoffical Oblvion Patch

- Unofficial Shivering Isles patch

- Qarls Texture Pack III

- Oblivion Character Overhaul II

- Alternative Start by Ship

- Oblivion Script Extender

- Blockhead

- Better Cities

 

I had jumped the gun and also tried to install Better Dungeons, Unique Landscapes Compilation, Oblivion reloaded and Better cities at the same time, game started crashing before it starts so I one by one disabled them until I got it running, of those better cities is the only one still on but I am now getting frequent crashes. I am not really sure where to start as in the past when I have modded games there were usually a lot simpler. Any and all help would be appreciated!

When you installed Better Cities, did you get an installation Menu in Vortex, or did Vortex just go about installing everything without showing you a menu of options for Better Cities?

One quirk of Oblivion mods is that some are packed in non-standard way, because back then there really weren't standards for mod managers. So you might need to repack those ones so Vortex will install them correctly.

I got a menu, I can't recall everything I chose but I believe I just chose all the pre selected defaults and chose no additional selections. I also got an in game menu.
